Hi, I have a few big pimples aroung my children who are isolated and that is good. Hydrocortisone would be any good in making them smaller and redder?
All the sites ive checked out told me not to apply hydrocortisone acne. Here, for example:
http://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/medicines/medicines/c/canesten/canesten_hydrocortisone.htm .” There are some situations where you should not use Canesten Hydrocortisone:
fields broken skin.
large areas of more than 7 skin.
days.
when you light a reaction to the ingredients of a cold sore or Canesten Hydrocortisone.
ACNE
on your face treatment, eyes, mouth or mucous membranes membranes

Reply:I always used it with BP also, but even then not for long, since shortly thereafter I completely cleared from B5 anyway. It is not meant to be used daily. Just as a temporary relief on certain swollen spots.
Reply:it may slow the healing down or spread the infection underneath the skin if you do not use an antiseptic along with it and if you use it for a long period.
Every now and then is ok but i personally always use bp along with it.
Reply:what do you mean by infection???
surely one little dab after a shower at night wont cause any probs? Will it…?
Reply:Vinny the reason they tell you not to use Hydrocortisone on acne is because Hydrocortisone dampens down the immune system allowing infections to spread much more easily, this is why i also use benzoyl peroxide along with the Hydrocortisone as this kills the infection thus allowing the Hydrocortisone to dampen down the inflammation.
Only use it for a few days.
Reply:Maybe this brand has some other ingredients in their formulation. Hydrocortizone is used on poison ivy and other rashes that ooze, so I'm surprised at this. I think they don't want you putting it on your entire face for acne, which may be why they said that. I don't know. I think it works great for lessening redness and inflammation and I never had any problems that I'm aware of from using it. Maybe you should check out other brands and read the cautions on their labels to find a safer version of this cream.
Why not use BP on them? I think it works just as well.
