Accutane causes hair loss . [cause hair loss] [accutane]

So heres my top story.

Last October I received Accutane. Was about 6 months and cleared up my acne perfect. At this moment I do not literally a pimple on my whole face and I can not remember the last time I was a bad one.

However, something I had no knowledge of my hair began to thin at the top. I did not pay much attention because all the derm say “oh no, Ive never had a preview of causing hair loss, blah blah” seen.

But the reality was the accutane caused my hair to thin. Ive always had thick hair my whole life and now it is thin to the point that you see my scalp through my hair.

I named Roche, Accutane people, and spoke of a “product specialist”. She said she is not really about what you can do to undo the consequences or what caused it exactly, but she is aware that hair loss a side effect of taking Accutane IS. She said that in most cases that they personally have known of the hair to grow back, but may take some time, six months to enter into any year.

In any case, I probably go gewoon naar shave my head too, so it is not that big of a deal, but it is something some of you should be aware of, especially when you are on accutane now or to go on Accutane. Im not unhappy

Im Accutane, pimples and not worth it thin hair, I hope it grows back.

Reply:Yes – she has oily hair and washes every day. I'll ask her about the hair loss issue and see if she wants to try another bcp.

I was also wondering if you were out of your teen years and what you tried for your acne before. Did you ever try hormonal treatment like spironolactone?

Hopefully, if it is the bcp causing the hair loss, switching bcps will work. And maybe the accutane will help with the oil issue.

I'm 25. Starting around age 13 and all through high school, I started getting pimples here and there around that time of the month. In college, I'd get a little cyst here and there. And then around age 23, I got full blown cysts that would last for months. I prolonged accutane even though I've saw 2 different derms before the one I currently see because I was afraid of side effects. I've used tetracycline, minocycline, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, clindamycin, klaron, differin, proactiv, and over the counter face washes and medications. I wish that I had just done accutane when I first had the chance to spare myself all the aggravation these other medications.

Reply:Skimom,
I hope your daughter has wonderful results with accutane. :) I didn't even think of hairloss when I was looking into accutane but finally having dry and manageable hair was a nice surprise. Does your daughter typically have hair that needs to be washed everyday? Actually, I have a friend who started experiencing hairloss when she was on bcp (orthotricyclen lo). She took it for about 3-4 months and then switched to another brand and she's been fine.

Reply:Bless your heart Boston Girl. I hope my daughter's treatment goes as well as yours. She has waist length hair which she loves. I actually think the BCPill has caused her hair to fall out already. It clogs the vacuum cleaner in her when her room gets vacuumed. This worries me a bit.

Reply:My hair has changed but it has nothing to do with hairloss. It used to be really oily and I'd have to wash it everyday. Now it's dry and extremely manageable and I can go 2-3 days without washing it. I'm thrilled by it.

Reply:I took acutane 6 years ago and I noticed my hair was thinner 3 years ago. Can this be a result of Acutane? I never realized that acutane caused hair loss. My hair is still thin but for the most part stopped falling out?

Reply:I remember reading somewhere that accutane can cause hair loss and increased body hair. I think its because accutane messes up the way the testosterone in your body stimulates your hair follicles. Normally your testosterone acts on your hair follicles and your sebaceous glands in your skin in certain proportions, but since accutane stops your sebaceous glands from functioning, the testosterone cannot act on them any more. This means that now theres more testosterone acting on the hair follicles, which can cause increased growth in body hair and hair loss on the head. I think thats what it said anyway.

When I was taking B5 I experienced pretty bad hair loss so I started taking Biotin supplements. The hair loss stopped within a week and my hair became really shiny and soft. It began growing back in too. Its pretty much back to normal now. I believe I was taking 1500 mcg two or three times a day. You may want to try it. Good luck!

Reply:That's another side effect I have discovered toward the end of my treatment, the hairloss. My hair has been falling out by the gobs and though I don't really think you can tell unless you look for it closely but it's still strange. And yeah, I was told the same thing, a couple of months and it will come back. My eyelashes also fall out more frequently too!

Reply:guy,

I experienced the same problem with you that accutane made my hair thinner and stopped growing in some areas.

There is this revolutionary shampoo people that have problems with thin hair have been using makes their hair thicker.

its HORSE SHAMPOO. YES, HORSE SHAMPOO.

Buy the product:

The Original Mane 'n Tail and Body Shampooo
For Shiny, Manageable Hair.

Yes. HORSE SHAMPOO WORKS. This product is so popular, I have so many friends and relatives who use it cuz IT ACTUALLY WORKS. Its a very popular product. Your hair will get THICKER with this. It also works FAST. For me, after a few days of using it, my hair started growing again and became thicker.

DO NOT IGNORE MY POST. I AM VERY SERIOUS. GET THE PRODUCT. KING HUMBERT, GET THE PRODUCT. I WILL PITY YOU IF YOU DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT AND IGNORE MY POST. BUY IT NOW.

(By the way, the only people i know who this product didn't work for are those who are 50+ years old, cuz their hair is off course, older.)

(next, if you have receding hairline on your forehead, that's a different story. that doesn't have to do with accutane and the horse shampoo will not help you grow hair in that area.)

"The one thing that has kept me going is knowing that one day my face will be clear and there are people who love me despite my imperfect face."

Reply:Try a product called Nioxin. It's a shampoo and conditioner type product. You can get it in most beauty supply places. Maybe some salons. It's very good for restoring thinning hair. I understand it doesn't smell real great though.

Reply:I was on accutane twice and towards the end of the second treatment I did notice that my hair was falling out much faster then usual. But it was literally like the last week of accutane and once I went off of it my hair went back to normal. So maybe you just got to give it some time.

Reply:Hi guy,

I'm sorry to hear about your thinning hair, but congratulations of clear skin. I personally used accutane twice and did not suffer the loss of a single strand: the incidence of side-effects is as various as the people who use it, though there are many constants that most will undergo. My derm advised me that temporary thinning of the hair was a possible side-effect, and remarked that only in exceptionally rare cases is this hair loss permanent. Provided that the thinning did not occur independently of the accutane, I think it's safe to assume that your hair will likely regain its former consistency.
