Reply:Nowadays, the term 'Accutane is only for severe acne' has been over rided. It seems like anybody can get hold of it. So i wouldn't be suprised it you were prescribed it. If ur Dr is anything like mine then it's a no-no. My acne is moderate and was worst when i was younger. I've never been offered 'tane and i breakout on a daily basis…

Ur Dr would be a fruitloop if he/she u gave u accutane..

Reply:Hmm, I get new pimples DAILY…and lately have been getting deep nodules. And I am doubting that my derm will give me Accutane (though I surely am going to ask).

I wouldn't even be on this board if I only got a new pimple every 5-6 days (though I am by no means downplaying your struggle with acne).

Reply:I think a derm will. I am like you in that I get new pimps weekly, they last a few days but then leave red marks for MONTHS…. I am using taz now and it works ok but I am doing the B5 thing and some CP serum and other vitamins to try and get my face clean.

MY doc said that she thought if we don't see more improve (cause there has been some) but that if it is not any clearer by my next appointment (October 3) that I should consider taking a low dose of accutane (about 40 mgs, 3 times a week). I did a full course about 5 years ago and had a terrible time with the side effects. I am apprehensive but do want this gunk off my face. A low dose may be the way to go.

I know docs will prescribe it even to folks who don't necessairly break out but have extremely oily skin. Just talk to your doc. Maybe doing it like I may, 40 mgs 3 times weekly, will help you and if you need to step up you can.
