Ive been on accutane for about a month now. Its amazing. My whole face lit up in about one week and I have moderate / severe acne. Also I have no symptoms, except the dry lips, which is easily checked by carrying around a ChapStick. I recommend Accutane to anyone who has tried everything and still cannot get results. It is the miracle pill for acne!
Reply:It sorted my skin right out and I never got a spot for a few years after taking it. This was when I was 18, I'm 24 now and I think the effects are just starting to wear off as I'm starting to get a few back.
The main concern I have is the mental effects it may have had on me.
Reply:I had a HORRIBLE experience with Accutane. It made my face break out so badly when I was on it that I hated to go to school (and of course it just had to be my senior year of high school) sometimes. I even had a couple people comment on how bad it was
My skin finally started to get better after I stopped taking it (after about 5 months) and then remained clear for about 3/4 months. Then I went right back to breaking out again. I still break out occasionally, but thankfully not that much. It certainly isn't due to Accutane though!
Glad to see it actually worked for someone.
Reply:i would be one of them…for somereason i figured i would check these boards before i went to sleep…as i have not been on them from a good 5 months now since off accuttane and that is because….IT HAS CLEARED ME COMPLETELY…my skins been amazing since my treatment…i recommend it to anyone as long as your smart w/ it and do what needs to be done. my skin has never been better and my acne has yet to come back. maybe 1 or 2 pimples since which anyone could deal with. me and lexla started and finished about the same time and i to am curious how she is doing.
Reply:i am on acctune for 4 months now…after reading thru lots of posting, i guess it did vary from one person to another.
I was encouraged to take on accutane after reading thru posts here. my own experience is that, i didnt see signification result until the 11 weeks (in fact, intially it got worse!!:dizzy: ), it was horrify and i almost give up but thankfully i perseverence. now, although there are some zits but there are minor and not painful…so right now all i need to focus is get rid of the scars.
my dr. told me i need to stay on accutane for a year. btw, my dose is 20mg. the only side effect i got is dry lips and hairloss while washing my hair (but thankfully i got plenty of hair to spare)
Reply:Accutane worked for me, took about 5 months but for my body acne it cleared in about 1-2 months. My skin wasnt even sensitive. I used BP on my skin to clear the initial breakout and had no problems whatsoever. All i had was dry skin on my arms and slight joint pain. Its definitely worth it. Dont let the ones it didnt work for scare you away, the 95% of people that it works for arent on an acne board anymore.
Reply:Hmmm. I had severe acne and it took me an entire 6 months on a high dosage of Accutane to get rid of my acne. I also had frequent nose bleeds, intense dandruff, horribly aching joints when I woke up each morning, and I lost a lot of weight, which was bad since I was already really skinny.
And on top of all that……my acne came back 4 months after I got off Accutane. I guess the effects are different on everyone. But I wouldn't call it a permanent fix. Seems like most people's acne comes back after they stop taking Accutane. It's just a mega-dose of Vitamin A, which shrinks the sebum glands. So if you stop taking it, the glands are just gonna go back to doing what they were before. That's what happened to me.
Reply:More like the worst disaster of my existence for me. It works for some people, but it's definitely not the absolute answer.
Reply:I am starting accutane on september 26th and I have two questions for you. The first one is when you started accutane did you have a lot of acne on your face and under you skin? because I do and I am afraid my IB is going to be bad because of it. My second questions is how many mg did you start off out on? My derm is starting me on 50mg
