Accutane is a permanent cure? [clear acne] [accutane]

Any1 been off accutane for a while? Does any1 know if accutane has the potential to clear acne for good after a 5-month treatment? or will it return?

Reply:Nothing major for me really, I was quite lucky. I still to this day get dry lips but it's nothing I can't handle. I got the odd nose bleed while taking the accutane too. Other than that though I was fine.

Reply:Hi – I took accutane three times within a six year period. I was on it and then off it for two years, during my interval periods. However, the third time was the charm for me – with a new dermatologist and better care and management of the drug FOR ME, my acne had been virtually non-existant for 5years. I occassionally break out due to a change in hormone levels (I am female), but it hasn't lasted long and goes away.

Talk to your doctor about doing it again. I looked terrible and wouldn't leave the house without makeup. Now I don't wear makeup and people compliment me on my skin. I hope (and pray) it lasts forever for me!

Reply:Yr right it's not half as bad as it used to be. I've actually seen a derm. about a second dose, but I thought I'd try the Chinese Herbal route first as I've heard good things about it. As I'm a wuss the thought of accutane again kinda scares me. I hope it works well for you if you decide to go with it though

Reply:although it came back, i'm sure it's not as bad as it used to be, right? Can't you take accutane a second time, probably with a lower dosage?

Reply:Sorry to say it returned for me. I was not amused! lol. Still, I had nearly a year of lovely clear skin, and managed to take lots of pics to remind me how I looked. There is every chance that you will be acne free for good after taking it though.
