Accutane is good, but dangerous [personality changes] [mood swings]

hey health boards, i have
after reading many many posts about what a savior is Accutane. Although Accutane can clean your skin very quickly, there are many side effects you probably know, but just seem to ignore. Accutane can malformations in children, women affect the ability to have children, because liver disease, cardiovascular disease, mood swings even have a to a suicide attempt (which was the case with a 15-year-old girl the other day) and changes the personality that can lead to many problems, although road.
down the clearing up your skin is vital and important. (I know because I am an acne patient) also helps to be aware of the other vital parts of your body. Your face does help to purify the blood, does your liver, so I would not think it would be wise to destroy it, because you want a “quick fix” on your face.
try to take it easy for a while and a number of facial treatments, salicylic acid peel, put an antibiotic and some topical medications, it wont affect your bodily functions dramatically.
take my advice, because (as someone who works with a dermatologist) . I see too many people who regret accutane when they get older, because what it has done to them.
Thanks for reading.
just trying to get a few to save lives. :)

Reply:it seems that I have little higher triglycerides. what is that mean? is there any way to lower them down?

Reply:im taking accutane and im happy.

Reply:I took accutane about 15 years ago for my cystic acne. I experienced a lot of depression and other problems. Until a few years ago, I didn't even know why I was so depressed as a teenager. My depression went away as a teenager. I'm just still shocked by the fact that this medicine had such side effects. I just had to sign a form saying I would be on birth control or refrain from sex.

Reply:People hear all these horror stories about accutane because you dont hear many stories about how WELL accutane worked for people, because their out enjoying their clear face! Hundreds of thousands of people have taken accutane…some of them do get permanent side effects, yes. But how many dont? Probably a lot more. I for one will live with a couple sore joints in the future if it means living without acne…i can only hope it'll last.

Dont get me wrong, i respect your guys opinions when you warn others about accutane, but im going to start taking it in a few days regardless. Im taking the risk i guess you could say. Oh yea, geek_usa, what did you mean by 'airy' when you mentioned smoking weed while on accutane? (i assume thats what you meant) I enjoy a puff or two every so often…well maybe a lot more than that lol. Should I be worried? (please, no anti drug posts, this isnt the time, nor the place…frankly i wouldnt really give a damn either :) )

Reply:Ah yes, well thanks for the tip however i'll stay on accutane. I do not have any side effects that accutane may cause. The only thing I have noticed is my stomach being airy if I combine accutane with several recreational herbs, or drugs if you will depending on how you look at it.

Yeah your face doesn't filter your blood, but your liver doesn't give people a first impression. People don't care what your liver looks like. But yeah, im sure one day we'll regret it, till then whatever.

Reply:Karyn,
You make a really great point about people not being honest with their derms about serious side effects. That's what's going to cause a lot of people problems. I think if someone carefully monitors themselves and is also carefully monitored by their derms, the chances of being fine are really good. If I had just started breaking out, I wouldn't immediately ask for accutane but for those of us who have tried everything out there for years and don't want to deal with that anymore, I don't see why we should be frightened away from taking accutane.

Reply:I'm a two course user; still using antibiotics to treat some cysts. The problem I see with Accutane is people who are so desperate for their acne to go away, that they won't tell their doctors about the serious side effects they're experiencing. I know how they feel–during my second course, my triglycerides went too high, so my derm cut the dose–and I was so upset! But, after a couple days, I realized that my health is more important than my skin. Accutane needs to be properly managed by people who know what's going on, and it shouldn't be the first thing you jump to. I have never felt unsafe in taking Accutane, and that's why I will aways support it.

Reply:I respect your concern but for some, such as me, I've exercised all possible regimens to try and cure my acne. 15 years worth as a matter of fact. When you've lived half of your teenage life and all of your 20's suffering with the disease and you know that your not going to outgrow it there are no other alternatives.

I was very scared to take it for a long time. But now I'm so over looking into the mirror everyday and seeing my face that the risk of other bodily damage will just have to come if in fact it does come.

thanks for reading.

Can you tell me what those things are specifically?

Reply:Before I started, I took into account all those things. I decided it was the right thing to do for me. If anything were to happen to me, that would be my responsibility. I wasn't looking for some quick fix. Nothing would work for me. Absolutely nothing. I wasn't about to spend more time, money, and energy on anything that I deemed to be a waste of my time.
