Ive been on Accutane since January, and Im lifting weights since November last year. I hear proteins, especially whey protein helps to increase while working out. Would it be good to take protein, or protein shakes, while I accutane? I really hope so. Thanks!
Reply:All you really need to bulk up is 1.5 grams X ure body weight. Which for me is impossible bc all those Whey protein shakes make me break out.
Reply:Anybody taking in 300 grams of whey a day obviously has no idea what they are doing. So, anybody reading this thinking they will gain 5 lbs. of muscle a week doing this should not take this advice. All it will get you is some messed up kidneys!!
:nono: Its just ejected out the body…
Reply:Well there was a lot of steroids involved and you don't know how to measure BF. Even with steroids it is literaly impossible to gain 60 lbs. of muscle in 9 months. Also, 4.7% BF is basicly what bodybuilders compete at. So, unless you can see every vein and muscle striation you are not at 4.7% and need to put the calipers away.
Ive been an army medic and have a bachelors degree in biology… I think I know what Im talking about…

Reply:Jesus christ!!!! That's way more whey than you could possibly use. You should be getting the majority of your protein from actual food sources. The only time I have a whey shake is immediately after a workout and sometimes in the morning. 300 grams of protein total in a day is a good amount but way too much from protein supplements.
Any Meat and fish will be good (especially chicken, tuna, salmon), cottage cheese, protein bars. If you are bulking milk is good, oatmeal, whole wheat, etc.

Reply:You will be fine. I took 300grams a day of Optimum Nutrition Whey and another 52 grams from Metrx weight gainer while on accutane..

Reply:Your muscle need protein to get bigger, they wont get bigger because of it. They will just have the materil to build faster. I would watch out though, you might get buffer and clear but if accutane and protein have a bad mix your gonna have some gnarley side effects (hip pains, swollen stomach etc).
I know a guy working out a ton he just puts an egg into his hot chocolate it works for his needs, but that might raise your cholestrole too much. Go to some store ask them, they will know which one is best for lifting. Go to your derm, ask him if this one is right..
Reply:Powder ones are for meal replacement. I like the Jugs better. I know the GNC Mega Whey had alot of cholesterol in it. You should be fine but if it has alot of Vitamin A you will get alot dryer.
Reply:How many grams a day do you take?
And do you take the shakes or the powder? Which one is better for building muscle?
Reply:Oh yeah, I am currently on accutane.
Reply:I drink them all the time. I think that excess protein can effect your trygliceride levels but your derm should be monitering those in your blood work. You should be okay.
