I was on accutane for only 4 months to 40 mg. Its been 4.5 months and my scalp was completely ruined and I get so depressed! First, I live in Maine and the weather is dry. my hair is thin from the Accutane. It kept falling off as 1.5 months ago, but nothing is growing in its place. It is thin! My scalp is very oily, but I rose. It is not just flakes. It is as small chunks. Its like sand grains, but white. It is so disgusting! I use different shampoos (including Rose) and everyday I use a light pomade hair styling product. PLEASE HELP! The gross and I always rub and choose my scalp and then smell my fingers. It smells like oil head and there are always little flakes on my fingers. Will this ever end ?!?!?! I HATE ! Accutane Its me thin hair, dry skin and dry lips PERMANANTLY permenately! I watch out for 4 months! Why is this happening to just me ?!?!?!?
Reply:If it helps at all, once you go off of the Accutane your scalp will go back to normal.
JohnSmith007,
You failed to read How Horrible's first post correctly. This individual is already off the medication and has been for about 4.5 months. This person is very frustrated because he or she continues to experience problems even after he or she finished a 4 month course of accutane treatment. It is a myth that side effects from a medication will entirely disappear once you go off it. Sometimes it takes months even YEARS for your body to completely heal and repair itself.

Reply:This sebum imbalance is often the cause of acne (too much sebum) and dry skin (too little sebum). When you were on the Ac****ane, the Ac****ane was controlling your acne by shutting down the areas that produce sebum in your body. Now it seems like your body has gone from one extreme to the other. Your body is not producing enough sebum to keep your scalp lubricated. You are now suffering from a severe case of dandruff because of this.
The jojoba oil will help to restore this balance. Right now I recommend you use the treatment every night for two weeks. In two weeks time you can probably cut it down to maybe applying it every other night. You will slowly start applying the oil treatment less and less until you use it maybe once a week. But keep using the shampoo. This will help keep things normal after you stop applying the oil as often. ![]()
Reply:Hi there,
I have a suggestion that I hope is helpful to you. You should buy pure jojoba oil and Jason Jojoba Oil Shampoo. Make sure the shampoo is made by Jason. This is VERY IMPORTANT!!! In the evening before you go to sleep, you will place about one-two teaspoons of the oil in a small bowl. Dip your fingers into the oil and rub the oil all over your scalp until every inch is covered. When you go to sleep, be sure to cover your pillow with a towel or an old pillow case so the oil does not ruin your nice linens. In the morning, wash your hair with the shampoo. Do this every day for about two weeks and I think you should see results. What's happening is that your scalp's sebum production is completely out of balance. Jojoba oil is very similar to the sebum that our skin and scalp produces. Regular application of the oil and use of the shampoo should get you back to normal. Please let me know how things work out.
Thanks a lot!!! Do you know about this unbalance thing? Does it get normal by itself, or is it permanant damage?
