Accutane u0026 Dental Problems [dental infections] [front teeth]
Jul 22, 2010
Has anyone else had problems with their teeth following treatment accutane? I was on it for the first time about 13 years ago and about one year later my four front teeth loose and came out. I was on accutane again four years later and then started seeing a periodontist due to dental infections. Now I was on it for the third time last year and this year all remaining upper teeth feel loose – I think I can lose them too. Has anyone else who has used accutane experience this or is it just a case of bad teeth and timing or coincidence? Ive heard that it can lead to bone loss – would be the case with me?
Reply:I've never really heard of anything like that. I've been on it twice and didn?t have any problems but that was only a year ago.
Reply:Sorry about your luck. I wish I could help but I don't really know the answer to your question. It could possibly be related but who's to say for sure. It might not help at this point but it also couldn't hurt to take a healthy dose of a calcium supplement.

I was on accutane 16 years ago and until today had not connected the horrible drug with dental problems. I now need $35k+ worth of dental work done due to enamel errosion that no one can explain. I have been to (2) pathologists, periodontist, endodontist, maxofacial specialist, and had two procedures with gastrointestinal physicians to attempt to determine the cause of my enamel errosion. Not a single doctor has been able to determine the cause of this problem and they are all saying the wear, tear, and errosion is even out of pattern that doesn’t fit any explanation. I think maybe I just figured out the answer and now that I think back, my teeth health has drastically changed since being on Accutane.
