Acne is taking over . [facial scrub] [st ives]

Hi,
Looking for something to get rid of acne, anyone have any suggestions? Now that summer is here Im getting acne worse than I usually do . Ive used Neutrogena for over one year, but now it does not work other than drying my skin . So when I bought Noxema, it feels like cleaning the acne but does not go away . Now I bought the St. Ives apricot scrub is not working either . My face feels so greasy during the day I wash it atleast three times a day because if not my face looks so shiney you could say that fat is
. Now I even get acne on my back and neck which I never use it . So again try to Neutrogena body wash does not work . This use can be so frustrating . Need some advice please, to get rid of this problem .

Reply:I think the Stridex pads are USELESS, excect to casue excess drying of your skin. If you wash properly with a gentle cleanser, there's no need at all for the Stridex pads. I don't know if they have PB in them or not.

I found for myself when I was younger with acne and for my daughter who is fighting it now….the simplest routine with the least amount of products was the best idea. I think the most important thing is to STICK with your routine….EVERY day and night, no matter how tired you are. You will see results….and if they ARE NOT what you want….see a dermatologist….I know it's expensive, but it's a good investment. Go armed with questions and demand your time. They have some awfully good prescription products out there. And ask for samples, so you will know if your skin can tolerate the creams they give you. The prescription creams are expensive, BUT they do last a LONG time when used properly.

My daughter has cleared up beautifully from Cetaphil wash and Duac cream…plus a Doxycycline antibiotic. That's it…she uses nothing else…twice a day. It took about 2 weeks to clear and she's stayed that way. She had moderate acne.
Good luck to you.

Reply:Hi,
I also use the stridex pads, do they have bp????They don't help either just give me dried out skin………..

Reply:Time for you to take a trip to the Derm

Reply:BP stands for Benzyol Peroxide, which is in many different products in different strengths….the most known is probably Clearasil. You can use any generic type product that contains the benzyol peroxide.

No face wash alone is going to clear your face…if that's ALL you've been using, that's most likely why you've seen no results. You need the BP to help clear up the existing zits and to help prevent the new ones.

It's very effective for most people. Just start with a weaker strength if your skin is sensitive. Use it after you wash in the morning, under your makeup or mositerizer if you use them. And at night after you wash. Then dap a little extra on any zits to help speed the healing up.

Good luck

Reply:Hi,
I did use the neutrogena for almost two years….I thought it was working at some time continued to use it and still haven't gotten anywhere….As for noxema i started to use that after the neutrogena for almost two months, other than feeling fresh it didn't clear my face….I started St, Ives just last week so i really haven't given it a chance yet….
Also i'm a picker i try so hard not to pick but sometimes can't help myself…What is BP???

Reply:Sounds like you're using several different things and not really giving any of them long enough to work. NO acne treatment works really quickly.
I would say to get a simple, basic routine and stick to it for at LEAST 3 weeks,if not a month to see results.

A gentle, non-irritating wash, such as Cetaphil or Purpose…something along those lines.

Use BP all over your face…start out with a low percentage if your face is sensitive.

Then, mositerize ONLY if needed…something gentle and non-clogging, again something like Cetaphil or Purpose…there are many out there.
TWICE A DAY…maybe 3 if your skin isn't irritated and your oil is REALLY bad.

I would treat the back acne a little more agressive….maybe use a stronger strenth BP.

Then, just eat a good healthy diet, drink lots of water, get your sleep and DON"T pick at your face!!!!
If you don't see some results….see a derm for some prescription strength products and maybe an antibiotic.
Good luck
