Acne on the back of an opinion for the years [lotions] [acne]

Hello everyone, I have acne on my back for years and have tried tablets, creams, etc, but nothing ever seemed to work. I would like to know if there are creams / lotions I could get to clear my skin? I have some acne on the neck too. I was just looking through the threads here and it got me thinking. Any advice would be much appreciated. :)

Thanks
Kevin.

Reply:I had severe cystic acne on my back throughout high school. Afterwards, it mostly went away on its own, but my face got worse. The only thing that worked OK on my back was gently using the cleania (RX) wash on it, and not using it with a washcloth, just your hands. Whatever you do, DON'T scrub your back with anything at all, I did that and it would just make it much much worse.

Reply:Hi all–

I too have bad acne cysts on my back and sometims neck. What works for me unconditionally is relatively simple.

Go to the store and pick up Dr. Bronner's pure castille liquid soap in both Tea Tree Oil and Peppermint. Then go and get a bottle of Dial Foaming Antibacterial Handwash. When you get home, dump out the Dial and rinse out the container very well. You're just using the foaming pump for this soap b/c castille soap doesn't lather well on it's own. Mix 2 parts Tea Tree soap with 1 part Peppermint soap and then fill the bottle up with water. Use this as a body wash and it clears up your skin amazingly well after a couple days to a week. I also use this on my face b/c it truly works well to get you clean.

If anyone tries it, let me know your results.

Reply:I found that using St Ives medicated scrub helped. I have used it every day and then at night made sure to shower before I go to bed (especially during the summer when you sweat a lot) and I rub on some alpha hydroxy cream some nights or a topical other nights.

I've almost gotton rid of them but it has taken me a few months.

Hi, Kevin,
If you can find Norma Derm from Vichy, give it a try! I have tried a lot of stuff for my face and this is the only one that worked. :) How you are going to apply it all over your back – tell me if you figure that out. Hope it works. No idea if it's available in your area, you can get it in Canada.
Bye for now,

Reply:I had really bad back acne too for years. And recently i discover this indian soap call Auromere and it really helped me with it. There is a thread that is can look at.

Reply:I got some nasty acne scars on my back from cysts and I also get some cystic scars on my face too. I just started accutane because nothing else worked, and I'm sick of this crap.

Reply:What kind of acne is it (cysts)? Also, do you have acne on your face? If your acne is really bad on your back and starting to cause scars, the best thing for body acne is actually Accutane. If you don?t have acne on your face, you could try going on a low dosage of Accutane, which should clear your back and not give you any series side effects.

Reply:cpquestion,

I had acne on my back, too, really bad from age 15 until I was about 29. I'm 33 now and only get a few now-3 at the most-on my back. I guess I grew out of mine. I would recommend getting one of those body washes for body acne (neutrogena, clean and clear, oxy, clearasil) and one of those body sponges/puffs on a stick and use that to wash your back with. Do you have a lot of bumps on your back? Like, is your back totally covered? If you only have, say, 10 or so, you could use one of those OTC topicals on the bumps themselves specifically. I don't know what to tell you to do if your back is totally covered though. Sorry. My back started off being covered with them and over the years it has just tapered off to just a few at a time. Now if I can just get my chest clear!!! lol lol

Reply:Only advice I can offer is not to pick at them. I did pick at the acne on my back because it drove me nuts and now my back is covered with scars. I haven't found any topical or oral medicine that really treats back acne and I've had it for about 3-4 years.

dan kern, the site offers great products and advice…you can actually ask the dr. a question. One item on his site is a body buddy applicator band. I love it..I can apply whatever I need on my own back, as well as gentle exfoliating, sunscreen, and self tanner. I don’t waste any of my acne medication products… give a look at the site, i think they can help with your back acne. good luck
