Vitamin Acne Treatment

Studies have shown that acne can be treated by taking certain vitamins. These vitamins not only give you a natural acne treatment, but they can keep your pores clean of toxins and actually heal damaged skin tissue.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is an antioxidant that eliminates toxins from your body and protects the skin. Consuming fruits and vegetables are more effective than the animal-derived vitamin A. Some of the best sources of Vitamin A are green vegetables, yellow and/or orange fruits as well as carrots. The recommended dose is 10,000 IU’s of vitamin A per day.

Vitamin B works to bring you all of your other essential vitamins and minerals such as Thiamine, Niacin, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine, Cyanocobalamin, and Panthothenic Acid (vitamin B12) which each has a specific role in promotion healthy skin and reducing acne to give you clear skin:

Vitamin B1 (Thiamin)
You can find vitamin B1 in garlic, parsley, leek, mangetout, orange, kale, pineapple, plum, cauliflower, and tangerine. It is advisable to eat them either raw or lightly cooked. Recommended dose: 20 – 25 mg per day.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
It is essential for healthy skin, hair and nails, helps control stress that may trigger acne. Recommended dose: 100 – 300 mg per day.

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)
It improves circulation and support your body metabolism of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Recommended dosage: 200 mg, three times daily.

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
Vitamin B5 is popular for decreasing stress and required for the appropriate function of the adrenal glands. The normal dosage is 500 mg per day.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)
Pyridoxine is vital for the proper functioning of the immune system and the antibody production. Recommended dose is 100 – 300 mg per day.

Vitamin C
Vitamin C is vital for collagen production within the body and it helps fight against infections including acne. More of this vitamin is needed if you smoke, use birth control or antibiotics. Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids is superior. The source of vitamin C: blackberry, grapefruit, lemon, and blackcurrant. Recommended dosage to combat acne: 1000 to 1600 mg, three times daily.

Vitamin E

Cells are protected from free radicals by the powerful antioxidant agent of Vitamin E. It can heal and repair skin tissues. Recommended dose is 400 mg per day.

Zinc

A lack of zinc may increase the production of male hormones. There have been reports of patients who were cured of longstanding acne with a low fat diet coupled with zinc gluconate supplements. According to the experts, the dosage of zinc for acne is 30 mg – 2 – 3 times per day for 2 – 3 months, then take just 30 mg per day as a supplement.

Another supplement vital for acne prone skin is the ones which provide essential fatty acids like Omega 3, 6 and 9, also Flaxseed oil and Fish Oil (both are available as liquid or capsules), as they have anti-inflammatory properties. Note: Don’t take fish oil, flaxseed oil, or vitamin E if you are going to have surgery within 2 weeks, or you are taking blood-thinning medication. Taking vitamins on a regular basis is a positive way to encourage healthier skin and overall health while battling the effects of acne.
