Aloe Vera is burning my face! [aloe vera gel] [lily of the desert]

I bought Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gel 100% Organic. The kind in the brown bottle that can also be a drink. I have at the moment and its making my face red and itchy. Whats going on?

Reply:I just put it on 10 minutes ago. I've used Fruit of the Earth before, and it took AWAY the redness. This time my face feels like someone is blow drying it with the hair dryer too close to my face and it's burning! I took it off a few minutes ago and it's stillllllll burning!!! What's going on?!

Are you using medication on your face? The aloe may be too much if you are. Your skin is to stressed and exfoliated for it.

Reply:I also think the Aloe Vera Gel was clogging my pores. I haven't used it in days now and the bumps on my face are just disappearing, and they've been there even before I started usign the aloe vera gel. Last night massaged Jojoba oil (cold-pressed) into my face and went to sleep. I woke up this morning and looked in the mirror and with the white light from outside could see the bumps had gone down! Let's just hope they stay that way….

Reply:If you have sensitive skin or using products that will make your skin sensitive, the Aloe Vera can cause some irritation and redness. If your skin is normal, the Aloe Vera will help the redness. If your skin is dry or sensitive, you should use regular moisturize, not Aloe Vera.

Reply:yeah, there was citric acid, I should have checked the ingredients before buying it.

Reply:Sleppy… I buy dermacare at the pharmacy! and it's soo cheap… about 3 dollars a bottle…

In regards to your question, I guess it's 100% gel… but let me check for you tonight and I will let you know…

and just for further information I would like to say That I've found this Aloe vera dries my pimples faster than Retin A! … and doesn't leave redness behind…

Ohhh one last thing Sleppy… maybe dermacare is carried as another name in the States or the country where you live ;) … I live in Central America… so I wouldnt be able to say… The next time I go to the Pharmacy I'll ask ok??

Best wishes!

Reply:I use fruit of the earth aloe vera gel. I love it cus it dries right on my face for the whole day. When I shower at at night I can feel the gel comming off.

Reply:guy, where do you get Dermacare Aloe Vera? Is it 100% aloe vera GEL or 100% aloe vera?

Reply:Sleeppy:I hope this new brand is really helpful for you… I just started using Aloe Vera and I love it!!… If I based my opinion on my experience, I would recommend it to people with and without acne, just because it leaves your skin so smooth… and takes away the redness (for me).

In regards to the brand I use… it is dermacare 100% aloe vera… and I refrigerate it too.

Reply:After taking off the aloe vera juice/gel I put on my old fruit of the earth aloe vera gel and it helped the redness go away. I think maybe this kind is too acidic or something since it can be a drink.

Reply:You could be allergic to aloe vera. Even if you have used it successfully before, you could have developed an allergy to it now. Wash it off as completely as you can, and don't use it anymore! Aloe vera contact allergies are pretty common.

Reply:The weird thing is, it made all the little acne bumps go down, temporarily I'm sure. It's really weird.

Reply:I had the same problem, so I stopped using it! Thank goodness I did. I seriously could see red patches where I had applied it. Yikes!!

I was using it on my entire face. Maybe just use it as a spot treatment?

Reply:I think u might have put to much on. That's what happened to me when I was using Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera. I woke up, peeled it off and it hurt while I was doing it and my face was very red, so I stopped using it.

too bad…if your aloe vera doesnt work the way it should then maybe its not really that organic…you can try Lily Organics…I have very sensitive skin and the Lily Organics Kukui Sensitive Facial Oil Treatment (unscented)…so so so so GREAT! try it and you’ll see what REAL ORGANIC really means

I just randomly decided to put this lily of the desert gel drink on my face a few minutes ago also and my face was burning soooo much that i got on my computer to google this…. I realize now that there is other ingredients in this one (citric acid) that must have caused this because I have always used aloe gels specific for the face/skin. I won’t do that again. I’m finally getting back to normal after washing with cold water and putting on some coconut oil. So I don’t think the pure aloe for skin would do that.

I have super allergy skin on my face with eczema and other itchiness and redness problem. I had to stop going to facial (where they already used the products for sensitive skin) and using products for my daily skincare routine. I bought a bottle of Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera whole leaf gel today and that was before I found all these comments here about how the gel burned the face. I knew after reading these comments here I shoudln’t even bother to risk my face with applying any of the gel on my face but somehow, I still tried it … and it didn’t burn my face? In fact it worked instantly to sooth the redness on my forehead (I tested it on my chin and my forehead as these two areas on my face are usually the most sensitive and get red and itchy the easist).
Could there be a difference between their traditional aloe vera gel and their whole leaf aloe vera gel? Cuz the one I bought is whole leaf. It also says its got citric acid in it.
U know with Aloe Vera, when your skin is too dry, and when you then put the aloe gel onit stings and burns..its like you are really thirsty, and all of a sudden you are given some water and you try to swallow the water so quick and the water is absorbed into you so much faster than normal.. Thats what the girl in my facial parlour told me about aloe. But its supposed to be good for your skin afterall. Guess it just takes some time for your skin to adjust to using it.
