Any thoughts on the Avon 2 step facial peel? Anyone try?
Reply:is a moisturizer just as good?
Hi guy,
A moisturizer is good for most skin types. Regular moisturizers usually contain oils as their main ingredient, but to have the benefit of exfoliation (cell renewal) it needs to have AHA's or BHA's in it. The BHA is best for acne prone skin but also works well for aged skin just as the AHA does.
The ingredients to look for in an AHA moisturizer are any one of these:
AHA – glycolic acid
lactic acid
citric acid
hydroxyoctanoic acid
hydroxydecanoic acid
The ingredients to look for in a BHA moisturizer are:
beta hydroxybutanoic acid or
trethocanic acid

Reply:Thanks alot! I will try out Neoteric!
Reply:Cookiepls………….what type of AHA's have you used over the years?
Thanks for asking.
Here's my list. I'm sure there are other members here who could give you even more choices (and there are many choices out there).
10% Alpha Hydrox cream by Neoteric – By far my favorite and can be found at most drug stores for $8-$10.
I've also used:
Oil of Olay – The only one I was able to find at the time contained less than 10% AHA.
Jason Natural Cosmetics – I don't remember much about this one. It must not have made much of an impression on me.
SkinCeuticals C – This one was WAY too expensive and didn't seem to work any better than the Alpha Hydrox cream.
Avon – I liked it ok, but just a little expensive.
I've also tried some generic brands but the most AHA any one of them had was 8%. I alway end up going back to Neoteric's brand.
Whatever AHA product you decide to use including the Avon just be sure to wear a good sunscreen after using it. Also, if your skin is sensitive, you may want one that's less than 10%. ![]()

Reply:Tons of people have used the Avon 2 Step Peel on these boards and absolutely loved it. I would really recommend getting it.
Reply:One more thing………….
Don't get me wrong, it does what the other's do. It just costs more. I've been using AHA's for over 10 years now. I won't divulge how old I am but people who don't know me just assume I'm MUCH younger than I am! It's great stuff.
Reply:My mother-in-law sells Avon so she gave me some a few months ago. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing you're talking about. The active ingredient in the product is alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). This brand is (if I remember correctly) 10% AHA. That's good, but…………..I believe step 2 was the neutralizer? You don't need a neutralizer with 10% AHA. Even if you did, plain tap water usually has a high enough PH to neutralize the acid, as does baking soda. I use the 10% AHA found in over-the-counter products. There are many brands to choose from that cost less and contain the same amount of AHA. The only time a neutralizer is needed is when using salon formulas containing 30% or more AHA.
Oh yes, the more buffered the solution (higher ph) the weaker.
Reply:i just purchased it..i hope it works
