Can weightlifting cause acne? [cause acne] [acne]

I have not lifted for about 3 weeks due to a depression well just about my acne and I avoided the gym. Now I feel that I am out of shape and I wanted to get back in, but I was wondering if it would slow my progress, or ensure that I continue to break . Can anyone help?

Reply:Thanks alot for the post guys, alright i'll start lifting again, and i don't use supplements, i jus wanna stay in shape still… I mean hey though my face is messed up, I can still work on my body…. Lol

Reply:Hi there, the acne you see on some weightlifters is caused by the taking of steroids. This is of course if they didn't have acne before they started!
Acne is one of the first visible signs of taking this dangerous drug.

Reply:I find it definitely causes chestne and neckne to me, but not facial acne too much. Weightlifting definitely increases testosterone production, so it's not advisable for ppl with teenage acne (ie the non-permanent acne that goes when you're around 20). For those who have acne after the teenage hormonal rampage years, I don't think it should make too much diff, but I know for a fact that it triggers body acne in me :(

Reply:personally Ive been lifting for about 3 years and didnt really notice any difference with regards to my acne but I can see how it could cause acne through sweating or taking supplements.

Reply:im still trying to figure out if there is a cause between my lifting and getting acne. I know for a fact that Whey and creatine gave me acne and cysts badly. I have started to work out again without any supplements and so far its been ok. I did get a few big pimples when i started working out again and i haven't hit the gym in about a week and havn't had any bigs ones. I'm really hoping that its just a coencedence(sp) that i got big pimples while i was working out a lot, but im thinking its not:( . Having a hard body and painful pimples or skinny noodle with clear skin…..what to do….

Reply:Not for me when i was depress i wouldnt work out i had it bad. When i started to work out again it didnt make a difference.

Reply:Ya… I know what you mean, but sometimes i just feel what am i lifting for, whats a nice body when u got a ********** up face

Reply:I guess it could but I would never stop WeightLifting. I started getting acne bad when i was 15. At 16 i started Bodybuilding so I never thought of it causing acne.
