Do not use soap! This is interesting . [apple cider vinegar] [cause acne]

I discovered that the skin is supposed to be acidic (pH between 4 and 5.5). Soaps are generally alkaline (pH 9-11) and the skin to be more alkaline. And I read that people with acne have skin less acidic than normal. This is bad because the acid in the skin, kills harmful bacteria that cause acne. So the conclution is not washing with soap. And your pH balance.

I found all this because I try apple cider vinegar thing is supossed to your pH balance. thought some of you might find this interesting.

Reply:Hi guy,
How do you make the Bentonite/Apple cider vinegar mask you wrote about? How much do you use of each, and how long do you leave it on?? Thanks!

Reply:i mix mine half vinegar, half water. I haven't broken out in a while now, but i can't be sure that it's entirely the vinegar thing since i've been doing a bunch of other things at the same time. it definately does reduce pore size though, so that is nice.

Reply:Lynn82,

I just used apple cider vinegar diluted in water (as a toner) yesterday. I wonder how many of us have acne because of ph levels, or allergies, or diet, or one thing or another. It's probably more than we think!

The vinegar-y smell did not last long at all. I am using a couple tablespoons in bottled water (we have well water which probably also adds to my problems). It's not a fancy organic one, though. Just a gallon from my local store. Do you think there is much difference? and how much ac vinegar do you mix with your water? I did a search online, and it varies greatly.

I can honestly say, I've had this itchy rashy-type thing on my shoulders and chest. Today is the best it's felt in awhile, and that's after one use of the ac vinegar. I hear it's a natural antiseptic and inhibits fungus/bacteria/mold growth. If you know of any other all-natural remedies, please share!

Reply:Where can i get those two ingredients, apple cider vinager and bentonite clay?

Well you can get ACV from any supermarket usually but the quality varies from brand to brand. The best thing to do is buy an organic brand with acidity of 5%. The most important test of quality is by looking at the base of the bottle, if there are small particles and bits floating around then you have a good quality bottle.

Bentonite clay is a bit more difficult but you can order it online if you can't find it in any health shops, just do a search. You need to make sure the clay contains: 100% pure grade Calcium montmorillonite Bentonite Clay (the Sodium montmorillonite Bentonite Clay alternative is not as effective) in it and it is probably better to get it in liquid form rather than powdered form because the powdered form takes at least 24 hours to get hydrated.

Reply:I have started using an Apple Cider Vinegar (5% Acidity grade) and Bentonite Clay mixture as a face mask and can honestly say this is the only thing I have found to SUCCESSFULLY and TOTALLY remove all blackheads from my nose and it doesn't involve squeezing thank God. I make it myself, the Bentonite clay sucks out all the toxins on my skin and the Vinegar returns the acidity level of my skin and cleans out the pores at the same time.

So far I have used this mask for the past 7 days and have cleared out all my blackheads. I have never been able to do this. With regards to whiteheads, the mask won't clear out the whiteheads but what it does do is bring every single one you have to the surface making it easier for you to get rid of. Unfortunately, I have yet to experience great results in trying to get rid of red marks/blemishes but the mask does seem to reduce them reasonably.

All in all the mask has several positives with no side-effects that I have experienced whatsoever.

Reply:Isnt Ph nuetral 7 tho, not 0?

i could very easily be wrong tho, i havent heard Ph's since 6th grade.
I'm dumb, sorry I put the wrong pH! :(

Reply:Yeah watch out for hard water too, it has a ph higher than the normal 7.

Reply:You're right, pH 7 is neutral, if you put something that was pH 1 on your skin.. well, you'd have no skin left as the acid would eat it away.

pH 5.5 is considered "neutral" for skin, (not pH 7) so therefore skin likes to be a bit more acidic than neutral. I've got some face wash that claims to be pH 5.5 so I use that. I'd say Cetaphil is fine though because it's pretty simple and doesn't contain soap.

Reply:Apply cider vinegar is great. I use it to help w/acne as well as colds, flue and more. Hows it working for you so far?

Reply:How about Cetaphil? What is it's PH?

Reply:Dove is an absolute ****
it dries my skin like hell :nono:
it's supposed to be ph-neutral though

Reply:Wash with Dove, Ivory or a soap that says "99.9% pure" because these have a pH of 7, so if you use these soaps you'll be fine. Peace!
