Reply:First off, everything your experiencing is completely normal. On your noise, those are called blackheads, and you shouldn?t really try to force them out. The white spots are just acne that hasn?t come to the surface yet, and again, you should really try to force them out. On your right cheek, it almost sounds like there may be a few cysts, which are just a form of acne. And yes, acne and pimples are the same thing. It?s hard to say what the best medications are for you. You should really try to go to a dermatologist ASAP if you can, since they should be able to help you the best.

Hi, I had pretty bad acne and my mother gave me Proactiv solution and in less than two weeks is pretty much cleaned up, if someone else tried Proactiv and you had the same results?

Reply:guy, don't mean to burst your bubble, but I don't recommend the stuff. I'm going to paste my view on it from another post going on, in case you haven't seen that post "any males over 20"……

I thought I was finally getting done with acne. It was slowing down and the sun was shining and birds were chirping. I was getting greedy and wanted perfect skin for the first time in 7 years. To ensure I wouldn't get acne at all (I was down to 2-3 zits per month), I started using my sister's proactiv. It worked! Completely clear for 3 months. Then I was 95% clear for the next few months and 90% clear for a half year after that. Then it happened. I started breaking out bad for a few weeks. I got off the proactiv caustic wash and broke out even worse. I went back on proactiv for a short time and got back to 80% clear. I then read some negative reports on the stuff and got off for good. I have been a mess ever since (unless I stick to my low GL diet). I know it could have all been a coincidence or some other change happening in my body. But, after reading that benzoyl peroxide (in proactiv) has been shown to damage skin cell structure, I have vilified proactiv ever since. Here are a few quotes on some of benzoyl peroxide's (proactiv's) more pleasant qualities:

"Benzoyl peroxide (BP) generates free radicals in the skin. Its effect is similar to unprotected sun exposure. The redness of the skin (erythema), caused by sun exposure and BP, is the result of free radicals (oxidative stress) upon the skin. Repeated BP use generates free radicals that damage the skin's structure and cellular DNA…. The extent of the damage and aging from BP is determined by the concentration of BP, the frequency of application and the duration of its use."
"Because BP generates free radicals it interferes with and slows the healing process. The red and brown marks that are a part of the acne healing process may last weeks longer when BP is a regular part of the daily regimen. BP has been linked to cancer for a number of years and many research journal entries state "benzoyl peroxide is a free radical-generating skin tumor promoting agent." Performing a word search of the words "benzoyl peroxide cancer" in PubMed in the National Library of Medicine produces 102 articles from medical publications dealing with research aspects of BP and cancer. About two-thirds of the research supports linkage between BP and skin cancer."
"In 1995 the FDA changed benzoyl peroxide from a Category I (safe) to a Category III (safety is uncertain) ingredient and stated this action (56 FR 37622) was based on new information that raised a safety concern regarding benzoyl peroxide as a tumor promoter in mice…"
"Benzoyl Peroxide is a bleach"
"Benzoyl peroxide attempts to sterilize the skin or strip it of protective oils and moisture. Stripping the skin of moisture damages the skin, accelerating the aging process, often creating counter-productive skin conditions"

Reply:I stoped using it I think it was responsable for giving me 2 cysts

Reply:Used it for two years, then it just stopped working. I don't use it anymore. Alot of people here have had the same results.

I am currently on Differin at night and Clyndomycin in the morning and to my "tribe" as they call it. My skin is sooooooo itch. I have been on it for almost 2 years and my skin looks great, but it is itchy. Not really too dry or red or scaly, but itching. Its disturbing. I was wondering if others had the same experience and thats just a side effect of the drug and whether I need to re-evaluate my skin routine.
I can not wear turtlenecks or itchy scarves around my neck as they are maddening

I have been put on the same regime by my doc a week ago only and noticed that my skin would itch where the acne is. I have just been using for only 1 week now. So, don't know whether this is normal. I don't have any other side effects though besides this itchy feeling – no dryness, no burning sensation, I heard associated with using Differin.
I can not remember ever making me a break, but I can not remember if I washed my face with soap afterwards or if I just used water . I was wondering if anyone has used this as a mask and how you did it (because I can not remember) and if it worked. My esthetician (sp?) Told me about this a long time ago, so I did not just wish and remember exactly how I washed out . I am sorry if sometimes a bit forgetful, but my life has pretty much been destroyed due to my face and hoped that some of you might have used
thanks

Reply:ok,
thanks for the replies,
but i have one more question…i am thinking of using it in the morning after i wash my face with fresh foaming wash by neutrogena then apply MOM and leave on 10-20 minutes then take off with wet cotton pad…do i need to wash my face again to make sure it is off or should i just wipe it off and put my moiturizer on..i use tazorac at night and think that the two at night would be too much??

Reply:MoM is the best oil-absorbing mask I've ever used. I also just smear it all over my face, let it dry for about 20 minutes, then rinse off. I usually wash my face with a gentle cleanser afterwards as well. It leaves my face cool, smooth, and oil-free.

Reply:I tried the milk of magnesia mask a long time ago. I cleansed first and then put the mask on for 15-20 min, then rinsed. I remember it helped with my red marks really well and I was happy but I couldn't continue using it because my face got extremely dry and flaky, although I do have a naturally dry face anyway. If you have a normal to oily complexion then I think it would work awesome for you.
