good topical that doesn't cause a dry skin? [differin] [proactiv]

Ive tried as much as Differin, Retin-A Micro, Proactiv, and others but no matter what or how little I use they make my skin peel off . it is so incredibly rough and dry after just one use . So I really need help . is there anything that will help that cause no drought? I hate it . I am so confused and nothing Ive ever tried . but hopefully someone here knows of something . Many thanks for any help

Reply:I also have very dry skin. It is very dry in the winter and not quite as bad in the summer. I can actually have dry flakey skin that is shinny from oil! It doesn't really make sense, but that is what I am stuck with. I can also get eczema on my face with some products.

Here is what I use;
cetaphil 2 x a day
some type of exfoliating scrub 2-4 times a week.
Rosula medicated pads (Rx only) 2 x a day
oil free moisturizer with spf 2 x a day

In the summer I use proactiv for the exfoliating (only the cleanser), but it is sometimes too much in the winter. Neutrogenia has 2 scrubs that someone recommended, one with salicyclic acid .5% and one without. The one without the salicylic acid sounds like it would be better for you. I am going to try that when I run out of my proactiv. The rosula pads are actually something that I am trying for the first time and it is working so far without drying my skin.

Moisturizers. I have tried so many. Some of them burn my skin. The one with spf that I currently use is not being made anymore, so I have been searching myself. But I use vanicream on my body and have used it on my face at night. I found that the exfoliating scrub is very important to keep me from breaking out. The combination of dead skin cells and oil is a bad mix for acne. I hope this was helpful.

Reply:It sounds like you have really dry skin to begin with.I am pretty sure that there is not topical that does not sry out your skin as the point is to dry out the acne to make it go away.Here is something to try.Use dove soap for sensitive skin and one of the products that you have stated as well as a moisturizer with SPF (like Dove or Clinique).I also have problems with peeling skin and this is what I do.It has helped a ton.Hope I helped!
