I heard that washing your face is really bad, because it produces more oil, etc. But I think that if I do not lightly scrub my face with a washcloth at least once a day my skin becomes scaly and itchy, anyone have any idea this?

Can you get the Aveeno Scrub at like a CVS? Is it a good thing to use a scrub everynight to wash your makeup off? Also I seen that you are taking Spiro…how is it doing for you? I still have a couple of days and then it will be a month for me…but I'm still having the same breakouts.
Hi Krista
I don't have a CVS nearby, but if it's a durgstore (like Rite-Aid, Target, Walmart, etc.) they will definitely have it. I've been using the scrub in the morning in the shower, so I'm not really sure if it would completely remove makeup or not. Sometimes if I want to learn more about a product, I'll go to drugstore.com and read the package details and the reviews that people have left (very helpful stuff!). As far as the Spiro…I've been taking 200 mg (for acne + mild facial hair growth) since the end of November. It's going pretty well, except for my SUPER-dry skin and the dehydration. My acne *might* be improving, but I'm on Minocycline too, so it's hard to say. I'm hoping that once the Spiro really kicks in I can drop the antibiotic.

Reply:I just started a daily scrub. Lately, my skin has been SUPER dry and flaky (I think it's due to a combo of the Spironolactone I'm on and the dry, cold, winter air). I'm using Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub (just a tiny bit, very gently), and I'm liking it a lot! No irritation, and it gently sloughs off the dead skin. I'm defintiely planning on trying out more of Aveeno's products (maybe I'll start using one of their daily moisturizers!).
Reply:I use Clinique Exfoliating Scrub. It's more expensive but I find that it's worth it because it is more concentrated with granules than most other scrubs I've used. I find myself using less product and my face feels smoother. Also, the granule particles are the perfect size and I find it much less irritating than using other scrubs or products like baking soda. The formulation is not moisturizing or greasy, which I like, because I have oily skin.
Reply:I like the apricot scrub from St. Ives. Exfoliates very nicely, has salicylic acid, and has kept my skin looking great. I use it every night.
Reply:I scrub my skin with those oil of olay daily facial cloths and that's the only thing keeping my skin clean.
