I recently began to wash my face three times a day with the basis Sensitive Skin Bar my dermatologist recommended. However, since I started my face morning, noon and night washing my face got pretty red. I now wash my face in the afternoon because it had started to really greased by that time, and it seems to help my acne by doing this. In the morning, after I was, I put on topical Clindamycin gel, and in the evening, after I was, I put Differin gel. There are moisturizers I could use that would not interfere with these drugs or make me break out? Plus, its really necessary to wash my face again in the afternoon?
Reply:I was using the ProActiv system for a while and it really didn't do anything for my skin, but one thing I purchased while I was using it was their oil free moisture with sunscreen, and I love it. I still have some leftover and have been using it. It moisturizes, it has sunscreen and it doesn't break me out at all. It's the best thing the ProActiv people made. I don't know if you can get it without buying the whole system, but look on their website and see if you can order the moisturizer alone. I really love it.
Reply:Using the same stuff, just wash morning and night. After you have washed your face, try splashing it all over with cold water-this closes your pores up and helps oil secretion. Don't bother with moisturisers, unless your skin is still dry after washing twice-daily.
Reply:I use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion with natural colloidal oatmeal for dry skin. This was recommended by my derm. I use benzaclin in the morning and differin at night. These two can be drying. I only use the moisturizer in the morning, a few minutes after I put on the benzaclin.
I have extremly oily skin but the topicals are drying out my skin so I need something to moisturize.
This product does not make me look greasy, does not make me break out, is fragance free, and works great with my topicals.
I really like this moisturizer and highly recommend it. I bought it at Rite Aid for about $8.50 (unsure of exact price).
Reply:Bonnie1982,
How did you get clear?
Reply:try doing the afternoon wash with just a lot of splashes of cold water. It'll refresh you, make you feel less oily, and not irritate your face so much.
Reply:I used to be obsessed with trying moisturizers and the best I could recommend for your situation would be MD Forte Replenish Hydrating Cream. It is kind of expensive, but made a HUGE difference in my skin when I was using retinoids. My skin is clear now (which is why I'm never on this board anymore), but I still use the MD Forte moisturizer frequently. I was using La Mer, but like the anti-irritants in MD Forte.
If you absolutely can not buy a more expensive product and HAVE to stick with drugstore, then I would recommend Neutrogena Oil Free moisture for combination skin. I really don't like this product very much (at all)…..but it is probably the best out of all the drugstore options. It is also more likely to break you out than the MD Forte. It has a long list of ingredients.
