Well, since my face is clear enough for me, except that it has not been nearly one year, I decided to go off all my healthy eating and celebrating. : P I ate pizza all week except one day I ate a 1 / 2 pounds Arbys roast beef.I even ate some Doritos yesterday and today I ate a Twix candy bar. : Eek: I had not ate nothing but health food for nearly one year and I can not begin to tell you how happy it made me real people eat. : Bouncing: Im even drinking a diet pop! I feel human again, lol! So far I only got a pimple on her and everything to go away without too much hassle. Please pray for me that I will not regret this.Thankyou.

Reply:what exactly is Spiro?
Reply:I take 100 mg. a day .On the days I am having my hormonal changes I sometimes take 200 mg. a day.
I was going to lower my dose but I love being able to eat all the junk food that I haven't been able to eat for the past 15 years and am not ready to give it all up yet so fast. :p I know I am going to have to cut down though as I am starting to see a great deal of FAT clinging around.$39 ,shipped free is what I pay for my 100 ct. of 100mg. Spiro.
Reply:guy how many mg's of Spironolactone do you take each day? I found some really good deals online, 100 tablets of 100-mg for USD39, does this sound right to you?
Reply:It's not necessarily true that carbs can cause acne, if anything it's the type of carbs you take in. If you take a high glycemic as well as a high Insulin index carb then you are more likely to have skin problems because of metabolism of certain hormones, eg. insulin. If your muscles are filled with glycogen then your insulin is doing its job and your muscles are probably not resistant to its effect. Once your muscles become resistant your body has to excrete more and more insulin to clear blood glucose.
I wasn't really going to get complex, but that's a simple explanation. So skin problems wouldn't occur when your muscles are already saturated with glycogen. More likely they would occur while your body is excreting extra insulin to do a job that a small amount of insulin could have done. But then one could argue that once the glycogen is refilled there's a bunch of insulin floating around waiting to do something heh. From experience skin problems usually take a while to kick in. I wouldn't really see a breakout happening the day after a carb binge, maybe a few days later if anything.

hey dsheldon, really glad that you are clear now. i do think i should warn you. in case your acne was food related and in case the theory about carbs causing acne is true, what is probably happening is your muscles are carb deficient right now. not the most technical of terms but you know what i mean. and it might take them some time to store all the carbs that they can. and then you might start seeing breakouts. so i would suggest that you take it easy. and if you do eat high carb foods do remember to exercise alot. experiment a bit before you jump to any conclusions. the only thing worse than a really bad breakout would be a really bad breakout once youve experienced completely clear skin. so just be extremely careful for now. wishing you continued clear skin.

Reply:You know, I really used to think that my acne was caused by either foods I ate (especially french fries) or lack of drinking enough water.
I really believe though it doesn't matter what the heck you eat or how much water you drink – it's a lack of zinc and B vitamins in your body that causes the inflammations. Just my opinion. ![]()
Reply:Well, I wish I had all that much selfcontrol lol! but, I don't OH WELL!..lol congrats sheldon
Reply:I eat healthy all year. In fact the only time I let myself get away with dirty eating is on New years and christmas. I've been like this for 7 years since I got into weight training. I haven't drank any pop or anything since then, just plain ol' water, mmmm.
Reply:Dear guy,
Congratulations!!! I know exactly how you feel
I read so many of your posts when I was doing research on this board from March to July, and I know that you've gone through a lot. Hope you'll enjoy every moment of your life!
Best wishes to you!

Reply:I prescribed it to myself and ordered it on online. Its still working great.
Reply:DSsheldon:
Spiro question for you:
did you get the prescription from yer derm or another doctor? was it hard to convince him/her that you wanted/needed it? thanks
Reply:Ya I wish I could eat pizza period. Everytime I do, which is like once every 6 months, I breakout within 30 seconds.
Reply:Yeah man I don't think food has anything to do with it as long as you get your vitamins. I went 5 months with just eating healthy stuff and no oily food products and my acne is the same as it is now (well now its even better actually) and I eat mcdonalds and pizza and all types of ****.
Just stay away from gatorade and sport drinks and ****, I found out those were a big problem cause of iodine.

Reply:very cool
good for you! And i envy you the pizza. i'm very allergic to milk, gives me hives and stuff, so i wish i could do pizza every day, however, it'd probably send me to the emergency room lol

Reply:This is truly a miracle! After eating all this junk food ,and even starting my montly thing I STILL only got ONE zit from it all !!!!
Reply:Mmmmmmmmm………pizzaaaaa
Dsheldon3 that was extremely brave of you. Well done gurl! Life is too short…enjoy food while it last ![]()
Reply:Yes, but you should still be weary. Even though those foods may not cause more acne, they are unhealthy for your overall body. I'm not saying you should just quit, but binges like that could be bad. Congratulations.
Reply:I'm so happy for you! That's such good news to hear. Enjoy your new-found freedom… anyone who has gone through acne deserves it!
Reply:I would guess that it's not going to effect your skin one way or the other as long as you get the vitamins you need.
I think vitamin supplements are important. Then you can eat what you like and it doesn't seem to make any difference with your skin.
