Im on spiro for almost two weeks and Im really a difference. All my jaw line acne has cleared and my face has less fat. It took me nine months of “thinking” before I went to the DR and got it and Id just like to encourage all women out there who are thinking about it just to do it. I wish I had heard about it 10 years ago!
Ive had no bad side effects, and the feeling really dehydrated on the second day, but Im careful with that now.
Reply:Yes, I have to agree, Spironolactone works wonders for me and seems to be the wonder drug for many acne sufferers. It has literally been the only thing that has worked for me in this 7 year battle with acne. I too noticed results in a matter of days and I have not broken out once since I've been taking it (been taking it for well over a month). I even went through my period with NO break out at all whatsoever and no bloating or cramping really. I think it's been helping me with that too.
I am currently taking 100 mg a day (a 50 mg pill in the morning and another one before bedtime). I really never exprienced dehydration with taking it but I have experienced feeling less sexual (not complaining!), and a little more fatigued lately. Plus, I had 2 periods in one month which was kind of strange.
Reply:Good, I love it too. What is your dosage? I am on 50 mg a day which seems to be enough. Be careful about the dehydrated thing especially if you are going be having any alcohol to drink. I took spiro one day in the afternoon (Valentine's day), went out to a big dinner and then to a party and after about 2 beers I almost passed out. I became really dizzy and nauseous all the sudden and had to sit down and put my head down. The doctor said that I was probably really really dehydrated since spiro and the beer are both diuretics. Drink lots of water!!!!!! One other question, did you have to get any blood work done? I didn't and I'm not sure if I will after this semester is over when I go home either.
