My face is burning off HELP ! [acne sufferers] [aloe vera]

Im on Retin-A 0.10% and Benzaclin (very expensive). Anyways Im on day 5 and maybe like my face is pretty red, but it is buried as hell. Ok it feels like Im a bad sunburn. Im not in the sun at all. Is there one thing that can help burn? But no influence on the process Ive tried to get through? Aloe vera would help? Please help me fellow acne sufferers. Ive only tried a few RX and the rest is usually all over the counter med imaginable. But I hate to give up so quickly. Especially ifmaybe can work for me. I have deep acne that is far under my skin nodules that have for years. Many of the black heads and cystic acne. The doctor told me I needed to dry enough so that the layers of the skin will come off, so the deep things come out. So I must try to take these . as long as I can stand. Any suggestions ? cures? Nat :) ))))~

Reply:since this of course the burning has stopped, but now it seemsmy face built up a tolerance. it doesnt burn at all. and seemed to stop helping help!!!

Reply:i use the RetinA at night only and the BC, AM and PM.

Reply:Have often are you applying the Retina and BC? Maybe you should start off only at night or every other day…BC affected my face like also until I tapered off the applications in the beginning. That seemed to help. Good Luck.

Reply:I?m glad it working out for you. As for the Aloe Vera, I don?t know if it would help since I've never used it, but I've heard that it can actually dry out your skin.

Reply:well so far the retinA and the benzclin seem o be working. A lot of the deeper bumps and black heads that never go away are seeming to go away. lso the red breakouts have stopped completely. My face is still a bit red from the meds, but it is settling. Also it is still very dry. I switched moistuirizer this AM because the biore faom i was using seemed to be the burning problem. Now i used the cetaphil moisturizer. the problem with it is it feels so greasy! But didnt burnnearly as bad as the biore did. Now my face is greasy . But I can say today it is clearer than it has been in years. I can't believe the deep stuff is going away! It is by my ears, deep bumps and black heads that are impossible to squeeze out. and I have those bumps in my chin too, they are not gone, but seem to be a little less. Anyways so far so good besides the damn dry and burning! LOL i really want to try a pure aloe vera on the dry and burning parts, seems like that would soothe it????

Reply:When I used Retin-A years ago I started by mixing it with moisterizer, also one that had some hydrocortisone in it (I used the Obagi skin care line, very good but expensive) and then applying it to my face. I slowly added less moisterizer until my skin could handle just the Retin-A alone.
I have tried almost everything over the years (I am now 33) excluding Accutane. If you are a female I would highly recommend spironolactone, I started about a month and a half ago for cystic back, neck, and chest acne and now I am completely clear. Spiro has had no bad side effects for me and I started seeing results w/in 2 weeks. You could not pay me enough to take Accutane.

Reply:yea it seems to be slightly adjusting but this AM it is very flakey all over. But I am not putting it in the most irritated areas any more, there really wasnt much there anyways, as long as I go around them it isnt that bad.

Reply:dont worry about, it. that happens the first week or so to some people…your skin will adjust…

Reply:I didn't go directly to a derm because that is not how my insurnace works. I have to get a refferal from my primary….. HMO

Reply:Why didn?t you go to a dermatologist in the first place? Doctors do know what they?re talking about, but a dermatologist would help you much better. Also, about the moisturizer, its alright if it burns when you put it on, its going to help a lot. If it burns it actually means you need it, so don?t be discouraged by the stinging.

Reply:I am goin g back to the Dr and telling her I was to try accutane, and a reffreal if she wont do that.

My derm put me on pretty much everything before I went on accutane also, but my scarring was so bad that they offered me accutane about 3 years ago and I turned it down, boy do I regret that. Many scars and painful cysts later and I change my mind about this accutane stuff. At first the side effects scared me away from it, but I realised that those side effects don't happen very often to people.

Reply:My Dr has not considered the accutane yet, then last time I went in she almost gave me a refferal to a derm, then changed her mind for one more go at this junk…. I do use moisturizer, but it doesnt help, and it actually stings when I put the moisturizer on, thats why I was thinking aloe vera. which would make it feel better. I am going to start alternating days or something to give my face a break, it looks like I have a sunburn basically. Plus this cold sore starting tops the cake. I have not had on ein so long, so I am assuming some how the meds caused it. I get them from acid fruits and sun. So who knows why this would cause it. In a few weeks if this stuff does not help, I am goin g back to the Dr and telling her I was to try accutane, and a reffreal if she wont do that.

Reply:I wouldn?t use Aloe Vera in this situation. You just need to put on as much moisturizer as possible. You need to put the moisturizer on right over the Retin-A (it won?t affect it). If you are using the moisturizer a lot and your face is still burning, then you will have to change your medications. Also, you might have to stop the creams a few days to let your face calm down, and in those days you take off moisturizer as much as possible. Lastly, have you considered Accutane?

I had that same problem. Every topical the derm gave me seemed to really irritate my skin so I just couldn't use them. I had to use a much more mild wash for my skin because I have sensitive skin. My skin reacts to everything soaps, detergents, topicals. I also have severe cystic acne. So I get the worst of both worlds, not only is my skin horrible but I can't use any topicals because they are all too harsh. What worked for me was just using a mild acne wash. It worked for a while but eventually I had to take accutane because I had tried just about everything else. I noticed that within the first week or two I had fewer cysts on my face, neck, and back. Maybe you should consider accutane if you really want to get rid of this stuff. I know accutane is a last resort medicine, but if you've tried everything else maybe you should look into it. It wouldn't hurt to try it.

Reply:Personally, I would stop the treatment and let your face recover. Use some aloe or vitamin e to calm the redness and burning. I don't believe in burning your skin to remove dry layers. I have found that the best thing for removing blackheads is jojoba oil. Overtime, it works to unclog your pores and keep your skin nice and clear. Use 100% pure jojoba oil though, and just a few drops at a time. Hope you are feeling better :)
