After using Retin-A Micro since the end of January, I decided to retire. I started Yasmin 2 motnhs ago, and Im leaving my skin in the hands of my bcp because it seems to be checking these days anyways. The Retin-A seems still eating my skin, and I think it was just too hard for me BC I never had oily skin to begin with. I can just start with CP and CP Serum Exfol later, when I order them . anyone think this is a good idea?
Reply:dancing,
you said that differin stopped working when you stopped the ortho. You stopped both…so how do you really know?? I'm confused. If you were bothered by dryness, you could lower your retin A dose, or try to use it every other day till the dryness calms down. But I've read in another post that you are on your differin again, so good luck. Also you are complaining about a cyst….you know that jojoba that you are using will bring everything out, so sounds like you've got a lot going on at the same time. Hope it works out for you.
Reply:Wow, i love it! I just use a little at night, but it seems to be helping more than anything else, it doesn't just completely dry out my skin like the others. It seems to be helping more with my scars than anything else though…talk to your dermo and just tell them it's not working well for you. Goodluck with whatever you do though!!
Reply:oh yeah, i forgot to answer the cleansing question for you DeeDee, i wash with a very mild cleanser that my dermatologist makes..its called MD Skin care, and it feels like i am washing with lotion. I user Olay Total Effects mosturizer in the day and jojoba oil at night..thats it….and i started treating my inflamed cysts with Neosporin spot treatment.
Reply:i feel like my skins been really drying out lately…i don't know if it is the retin-a, but i feel like its too hard on my skin. maybe you are right, and a lower dosage may work better. I used to have good results with differin, which stopped after i stopped Orthotricyclen..but i am not so sure what i want to do. retin-a was working really well for me until i started the Yasmin, so i guess that was the big change for me…well, i will keep you posted of my progress..thanks!
Reply:I am sorry to hear that you are retiring the medication….we started it the same time(1/31 for me) although I am not on BCP, so I need to continue my Retin A micro. I hope you continue to see positive results with just the pill. Can you try a lower strength dose on the Rein A maybe? What were you cleansing with, and were you using too much perhaps? It is not for everyone, it's just that you are are right at the point where positive results should be seen…and you ARE seeing them. Best of luck to you whatever you decide!
