Okay, all you pros, I need advice. [oily skin] [glycolix pads]

I saw the derm. today. I told him I wanted a grip on the oily skin. He gave me four things to use and Im quite afraid to use them all. They seem rather hard, for acne, although I do not breakouts. I just have fat skin.

First, he gave me Acne-Aid, which is a soap that I should use to clean my face. Anyone tried? Results?

Then, Im supposed to glycolix use pads wipe my face after I was. Good or bad?

Sometime during the day Im supposed to Clinac BPO.

At night I apply Differin Gel data to use.

Can you tell me if this seems excessive for oily skin and acne-prone skin is not. Suggestions about these products? I have all these in my possession, what would you use and when?

Reply:Can you get acne-aid soap from any drugstore? Is it over the counter?

Reply:Update:

You are right. The acne-aid contains no medicine at all. I really recommend this soap for everyone. My skin feels so much cleaner than it used to. All traces of dirt and makeup are completely gone after I use this soap. Even though it's a bar of soap, it doesn't really lather–it foams. It's relatively cheap and it doesn't take much to wash my face.

I wash my face with the acne-aid in the morning and apply the gly/sal pad. AT night I wash my face with the soap again and apply the Clinac. After just a few days my face is totally clear of blackheads and my pores are clean. My face is still oily, but that might take a bit more time.

For a deep clean, though, I recommend the acne-aid soap.

Reply:I get it at my pharmacy but usually I have to ask the pharmacist. Some stores have it on the shelves especially small pharmacies i.e not big chain stores.

Reply:Thanks for the replies. Since I got all the stuff late yesterday, today is my first full day with this stuff. I did the acne-aid and glycol pad this morning. I think you're right; too much of the glycol stuff will dry my face out too much. Tonight I will do the acne-aid and Clinac.

Where do you find the acne-aid? Do you have to go to your derm. to get it all the time?

Reply:I use acne-aid all the time. Despite its name, its NOT a medicated cleanser. It's a soap that supposedly doesn't have anything in it to break you out. It doesn't have any kind of medicine in it. It was first given to me when I took Accutane 10 years ago and I've used it continously for the past 10 years. It makes your face feel clean BUT I'm tired of lugging a big bar of soap around. It has a very misleading name. It's not going to clear you up. Its only supposed to provide a clean base for you to apply your topicals.

Reply:personally, i would skip the acne-aid. i'm against using medicated cleansers. i think everyone should use a gentle cleanser (my fav is eucerin hydrating cleanser) and if necessary, use meds after that. go ahead and give the clinac bpo a try, i remember hearing clinac is supposed to be pretty good for oil control. the glycolix stuff should be fine, may be a little harsh, if so, use every other day. skip the differin. you don't want to overdry your skin, then your oil glands will just be stimulated and produce MORE oil. good luck, hope this helps.

Reply:I had read on here about the mixed reactions to Differin. I think I'll skip that. What about the other stuff, though? Good or bad thoughts on it?

Reply:Good luck with the Differin. Personally, I would say thumbs down on that for oil control.
