Proactiv vs. Accutane. Which is better? [accutane] [proactiv]

Ive been using Proactiv for about 3 years now and has developed quite large. Im using it and im still doing okay with her, but Ive heard about these things ppl talking about Accutane and I want to know which is better. I have done some studies and theres a lot of side effects. Where would I Accutane? So I do not know what to do . Proactiv or stick to go with somthing els?: Confused:

Thanks.

Reply:I agree with the other posters that if the Proactiv is working well enough then stick with it. Even if one day it doesn't work as well as you would like, there are other options before going on Accutane. There's other topicals and antibiotics that won't have the side-effects Accutane does.

Reply:I think Proactiv is really a hit-or-miss.. For some people it works great, for others, not really. Accutane, on the other hand, seems to be almost universal in its effectiveness (I know there are a few exceptions, but still, very few).

As long as Proactiv works for you, I definitely recommend sticking to it. Not only does Accutane have all kinds of side effects (the side effects are pretty universal too, I think; not like other meds where some people get them, others don't). And besides that, you need to go in and get blood-work done once a month while you're on it, which is just a pain in and of itself (and gets expensive, even with insurance).

If proactiv is getting too expensive for you, you may want to seek out similar products that have the same active ingredients (it might work, it might not, but I guess it's worth a try).. Anyways… good luck! :)

Accutane is available only by prescription. You'd need to see a doctor to get a prescription. Most doctors will not just prescribe you Accutane until you've tried many other prescription drugs with no success.

If Proactiv is working "pretty great" for you, I see no reason to even consider Accutane.
