Remeron, etc., as the cause? [tea tree soap] [benzoyl peroxide]

Jul 29, 2010

Hello,

After taking Remeron (for sleeping, but it is also an antidepressant) for about two months, I have noticed a great increase in acne, especially on the right side of my face. Ive had mild acne, but this has become quite bad.

The benzoyl stopped working, so I started with and salicylic acid, both of which really work well. But, there is _zero_ effect after a few weeks. Acne is quite localized in certain areas (particularly in the temple areas)

Can acne from “inside sources” (ie Remeron) that can not be controlled? I suspect that the Remeron is the cause, but acne is not intended that a large side-effect.

Remeron I want to stop, but it works and therefore prefer to to.

All treatments and suggestions are welcome, as I am from ideas.

Thanks,
guy.

Reply:I took Remeron for about 8 months about a year ago. I had acne before I started taking it, and I still have acne now that I've stopped taking it. I don't think the Remeron had too much of an effect on my skin. If anything, the anti-anxiety effects of the drug reduced my stress level which may have made my skin better. HOWEVER, Remeron seemed to reduce the functioning of my thyroid gland, which can make acne worse, so maybe that is something to look into?

Reply:Nudge nudge
Anyone?
