has anyone tried st. Ives apricot scrub medicated? or st. Ives clear pore cleanser? how are they? just want some feedback on them, which im debating detergent to the next trying heh
Reply:I have never tried any of their other products, but I love the new "gentle" scrub. I use it only at night and it gets rid of any dry skin. I only use a tiny bit around my whole face! Then I use cetaphil in the morning. BTW, I'm on retin a micro at night and Yasmin bcp.
Reply:prob the cleanser because the scrub is so harsh on my face!
Reply:i would like to ask. is the cleanser better or is the scrub betterrr ?
Reply:dear colorado girl….hi!
Exfoliation can be tough on irritated acne skin. Alot of folks here are using prescription topicals that work to shed layers of the skin(nguyely Retin A formulations), therefore using scrubs would not be indicated for those people(me included!).
As I mentioned, the skin gets that rosy glow after using such preparations, and we all want that. I guess for those who are not using prescription stuff, scrubs in moderation(once or twice a week) would be safe. But most acne skin is so sensitive. We can't scrub the acne away, as much as we'd like to think we can. As we know, acne is not caused by dirt.
Bottom line is, if these things are working for someone, by all means continue them. I just know it's contraindicated in my case.
Reply:Dee Dee and others – Isn't part of acne treatment the exfoliation of dead skin? Many of us are not naturally exfoliating our skin well, so we get clogged pores. I just started using the Apricot Scrub once a week to help my skin exfoliate (especially after the wicked tan I got this summer) thinking it would help. Am I wrong?
Reply:im currently using the st ives masque which really helps me i highly recomend it!
i also use the st ives collagen mosurizer with vit C. it works good too.
Reply:Seems like a mixed bag of responses here, so I'll just add to it, as it's only my opinion.
Scrubs of any kind are irritating to our already fragile skin, especially if anyone is using drying prescription topical stuff. As gentle as they claim to be, they may be good for persons with normal skin just looking for a glow, but definitely not for us poor acne sufferers. As nice as it feels after we scrub with these wipes, or even their gentle version of the scrub, it really can do more harm than good.
Personally, it aggravated my condition and I quickly discontinued any use of their stuff.
Reply:I've had acne for 10 years and I'm using the regular Apricot scrub right now, and loving it! My skin is clearer right now than it has been in several months (have been having a nasty breakout since end of summer, uuugh)…but right now, after switching to non-medicated cleansers, my skin is much, much better. I think I'll stick with the regular scrub for now!
Reply:St ives apricot scrub has walnut shells in it which are very very irritating to people with sensitive/scne prone skin types.I like to use it on my back, arms, chest and legs..it workes wicked for that but its too harsh for my face…makes my face feel super soft but then again,so would sand paper if i slowly grinded it against my face…So yeah,be careful with this stuff.

Reply:Trust me, I wouldn't be on this board if I didn't have acne. I use it 2 times a day (that's all I wash). In my opinion I don't think it's to harsh for your skin, it says it's for everyday use. Just don't scrub your face vigourisly. If you do scrub it vigourisly no matter what you use you are going to get irritarion. For me, I love the apricot scrub and it has never caused me to break out, if anything it controls my breakouts and keeps my skin looking healthy. But everyone is different and everyone has their own opinion. The only way you'll no for sure is if you try it for yourself. Well, I hope this helps, Good Luck.
Reply:YEs i have used the apricot scrub…if u have zits, I wouldnt use it. it made me break out. Ive also used the toner, that was fine though.
Reply:I use the cleansing cloths morning and night. Sometimes I will use the medicated scrub itself if I need extra exfoliation and I have used this on my back and chest as well. The clear pore cleanser I have around if I run out of the cloths.

do you have acne? do you use it once or twice a day?
Reply:thanks for your responses,

Reply:I LOVE a lot of the St. Ives products for acne and I have tried much more expensive products that don't work as well. I regularly use the medicated Apricot cleaning cloths (as well as the regular medicated scrib in the tube) and I have used the clear pore cleanser which worked well.
Reply:I have been using the st. ives clear pore … has tea tree oil, chguyomile, primrose, and salicylic acid in it.
I really like it a lot. It takes away the oil and my face doesn't feel dry at all. Lasts pretty long too; like it takes a while for my face to get oily again (during the day); and I don't wear any sort of makeup for oily skin…, so it's the cleanser
