Why is the skin darker after Pimple Heals? [acne cream] [pimple]

Every time I get a pimple, I treat it with some acne cream and finally disappears. The problem is that my skin starts to darken where the pimple should be used. After a few weeks of washing my face, the darkness disappears. What causes it, what can you do to prevent it, and what you can do to quickly get rid of it?

Reply:It could just be blood and bruise it goes away.

Reply:Well I finally figured out a way to speed up the disappearance of the dark areas on my face after a pimple heals. Exfoliating twice a day helps, but there's one other thing I do twice a day that helps. Unfortunately, it's only available to men. I shave. It makes sense since you're basically dragging a blade across your skin. I shave twice a day now and the dark areas are going away. I think in two weeks, they'll be all gone.

Reply:yeah, i usually dont touch the big ones anymore and they still leave marks. very frustrating. i have heard that using organic apple cider vinegar is supposed to fade the marks fast, but i've been using it for a while and i really didnt see much difference. i still use the vinegar to help heal them faster though. but the only way i've found to fade the marks is exfoliation. i use the aspirin mask.

Reply:I definitely don't touch them anymore. I used to give into the tempation to try and pop them. Now I don't do that. I just wash and use spot treatment. They go away, but the dark patch of skin is left behind and it takes weeks of exfoliating to get rid of it. I was really hoping to find something faster because I have an important meeting next week and these dark areas on my face look bad.

Reply:sometimes its bruising, sometimes its scar tissue. the only way to prevent it is to not touch it, but even that doesnt work sometimes. the best way i have found to get rid of the marks fast is to exfoliate.

Reply:I have been on minocin for about 2 weeks now and I am really hoping that it is going to start kicking in. I am taking 100 mg's a day. Also, I have been using Duac Gel and so far I have had awesome results with it. I guess at least one of the two is working.

Reply:My son has been taking its generic, minocin, for about 5 1/2 weeks ( 100mg twice a day). He is also applying benzaclin, and using a bp wash twice daily. He has severe acne, but it has been drying up some. The derm said it would take the minocin about 2 months to really show any effect. They said it should help with the cysts. They also said that they switch antibiotics about every 6 months so the patients wouldn't become immune to them. I hope it works for everyone!!

Reply:minocycline took about 2 months to work for me…..although i have to say that for the first two months i was not using anything topically. my face got better when i started using proactiv again along with the antibiotics. so…i'm not sure if i can definately say that it worked at all. but if it did play a part in clearing my skin, it took a while to start working.

I won one million euros blackheads on my nose that I can not get rid of. Im almost 32 years old and these things are gross. I use an acne cream . Azelex think.
It I do to help them . any advice is greatly appreciated .

Reply:also they might not be blackheads EXACTLY.
because i have the same problem, at least i thought. but 2 of the derms i went to said i just had big pores and an over prodction of oil.

so that might be it. and i've tried queen helene's mask and it didn't work for me, but it might help you so good luck!

Reply:I only have a few, but I took a hot shower (if you want you can just sit over a pot of hot water for a while) to open your pores and than applied the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque (Walgreens..or whatever drugstore for about 3 us dollars). It was stinging so badly, I had to scream, but it will take them out. Once you wash the masque off, just squeeze with a tissue or so…they will come out all by themselves. Don't forget to disinfect with something, so they don't get infected with bacteria afterwards! Good luck!

Reply:I also got a lot of blackheads on my nose. When I was at my skinspecialist (who cleans my skin very thoroughly), I asked her about it. She also cleaned my nose very well then, took about five minutes and sehe removed about twenty blackheads. A couple of days after it my nose was a bit red, but now it's very clear!

Clearasil Question Please help! [acne cream] [resorcinol]

Hi everyone –

I recently bought a new tube of Clearasil acne cream, thinking it was the 10% bp I realized when I got home that the substance was actually sulfur resorcinol. Ive never heard of this before, but apparently it is “mature” with acne, the theory is that an adult skin has less fat than a teenager. Im 22 man – so this is all very interesting – and new – to me. Can anyone speak for the sulfur and resorcinol are effective or not? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Reply:This contains resorcinol and sulfur, potent disinfectants, but can both be very irritating. Another of the ingredients, isopropyl myristate, clogs pores. That ingredient is also in the 10% benzoyl peroxide from Clearasil.
A better brand to try is Clean and Clear Persa-Gel 5 or 10.

I have a mild form of acne, maybe one or two poor white cups a week, and some red spots on my face. Since it isnt that bad im not going to dermatoligist unless none of these drugs over the counter work.

So can anyone tell me what is best for a cream? and also a face wash.

BTW can I use micro bead face wash and then use 10% benzoyl peroxide acne cream Clearisil Ultra and hardly a dry skin, I think its because Ive always BP. So I dont really care if the med is hard on the skin.

I use cetaphil gentle cleanser it works great for me probably cuz I just finished accutane, but sadly nothing is guarenteed to work so unfortunatly you are going to have to experiment and try many different things.

I have Clearasil ultra acne cream and I was wondering if only for preventing or treating acne. And if anything scares do, do not say anything about over. And if the acne is gone and has left a red mark, I continue to use it? they will do anything for her? Thank you.

Reply:i didnt know that it was bad for me, i thought u were always suposed to use it but it does say use it on infected areas. And what about salicylic acid, is using that on your scars bad to?

Reply:Not it won't help scarring or red marks at all. In fact benzoyl peroxide prolongs the healing process.

I have very sensitive skin. Even though my face is oily a lot of products on the shelfs make my skin dry and irratated when i use.

Dermalogica is the only product range that does not do this for me. I use special cleansing gel, toner and moisturiser and they do not irritate.

They do have an anti-bac skin wash, but I have found it is not necessary to use this everyday. I also use it once a week for maintenance.

They are fragrance free and great for sensitive skin.

You can get a travel pack for $30 or $40.
