I was recently Clindamycin (pill form) and 0.05% Tazorac cream. I went back to the derm to see if I could gel in place, because the thick cream and felt a bit greasy on my face to try. Well, he was out of town, but his nurse gave me some sample tubes of 0.1% gel. I use the gel for a few days, and my face still feels very oily during the day. It is also very sensitive and burns / stabbing when I wash my face with my usual acne products. I wonder if the Tazorac will dry up the acne I have now even though it feels greasy. I have alittle more acne now than I have, but I think this is cleaning, when will it stop? Should I continue with Tazorac gel or switch between the gel and cream? I would also use this mess will clear up rapidly! Thanks for all the RECs on how I can change my routine until my face adjusts to the new medicine! : Wave:

Reply:Thanks for the advice! I have been on Yasmin and it hasn't gotten rid of all of my acne. It got better, but still not clear. I have just decided to quit taking the Yasmin bc I have gained alot of weight and my appetite really increased on birth control. I tried OTC a while back and it didn't work either. I am going to keep using the Clindamycin (pills) and Tazorac gel and maybe someone will have some ideas that may help me. I may just have to weather the storm (acne storm that is) and deal with this bad complexion for a few weeks. Hopefully, it will get better??….
Thanks again!!

Reply:About 2 months ago I went to the Doc and she also prescribed me Clindamycin topical solution and birth control pills. The both of them together have totally cleared up my skin, I'd say 85 to 90%, but now I just have brown patches of scars on my face. Before I saw this doc, I had seen a different doc and she prescribed me the Tazorac cream. After she told me that my acne would get worse before it would get better and also that I needed to stay out of the sun as much as possible, I decided not to get it.
I am glad now because I have heard that it can burn your face from time to time and I surely did not want my acne to get worse before it gets better, especially since I face the public daily with the kind of job I have.
I'd say just hold off on the Tazorac and continue the Clindamycin. If you are female, you might just need some BCP, I recommend Yasmin.
Rachel

Today I got new stuff: A Micro 0.04%

Retin (I was at 0.1%, it was too hard)
Zithromax 2x per week (pill)
Triaz (benzoyl peroxide wash, I have really bad chest acne) my

And mom bought me:

Dove Sensetive Skin Body Wash

Now, I have sensetive skin soap and large. It is not completely dry. But this is a washing liquid and has a bit of a smell even said odor-Fri Is it safe to use on my skin or will I break?

Also, Have any of you went through or used Triaz Zithromax? How did it work for you?

Reply:I use BP & I wear colors other than white, lol! You just gotta be careful is all.

I love RAM – it's helped with my acne as well as my aging skin. It took a few months for me to get past the peely stage but now my skin looks good.

Reply:Hi there! That sounds like the same regimen my derm tried to put me on dozens of times!

Retin A micro is just strange! I found that it peeled and peeled and peeled until I was left with the most vulnerable skin ever! I have a few scars from scraping my face with my fingernail while putting the phone to my ear. I stopped using it after 20 unsuccessful weeks.

The Triaz is ok, if you never wear clothes with any color! And, still it's just "ok". Didn't help prevent anything.

I did break down and start Zithromax, once a day for months and months. It worked! No cysts, no major breakouts. I'm considering going back on it now, since I'm getting my summer skin! (more sun+more heat+more oil & sweat=ugly summer skin!)

You do need something for topical use, such as Novacet (if you don't have a sulpur allergy). You need something to battle the bacteria that causes acne, in between showers. The retin A won't do it, at least, not alone. If you get something with Benz/Perox in it, you can only wear white tops and bras or else you'll bleach everything.

Personally, I stay away from anything bar soaps or body cleansing bars. Dove is not formulated for acneic skin types, so you may develop breakouts. You can opt for Neutrogena body wash and facial cleanser. They seem to work quite well if you don't overdry your skin with a lot of topical creams. That along w/just the Zithro may work really well for you, and it's no more expensive than Dove. You aren't taking Accutane, so don't worry right now about drying out your skin! Don't try to pre-empt a condition like dry skin when you are cleary being treated aggresively for acne. It may be ok for you, but read the list of ingredients and do a search on the 6 main ingredients (more or less depending upon how long that list is!), plus any oils or suspicious additives. Phrase your search like "mineral oil causes acne" or "glycerine causes acne". Your search will pull up any related articles or medical posts on the ingredients you are concerned with.

oh! I almost forgot! Keep perfume off of your chest! That is a main cause of chest acne and most women and men don't even realize it. Spray your clothes with your fragrance and then, the wrists only. That may not be your cause at all, but keep it in mind if you do decide to start wearing perfume.

Keep me posted! I want to see how you do on those first few days of Zithro! Don't be alarmed if you get a little sick to your stomach within an hour of the first dose! It's very uncomfortable at first so don't take it before going out somewhere. Good Luck!!!

I have sensitive skin – oily and dry at the same time. Some cleansers and moisturizers seem to irritate and cause blotchiness.

Two weeks ago I went back to using head and shoulders on my body. I also bought the daily care of Avedas mositurizing lotion, which extracts of lavender and jojoba, etc. . has (Their website is great – it tells you whats in it, and what it represents).

I figure if Im sensitive, maybe acne products are too hard for me. I had read a post about someone all the major products from its routine of skin care and saw improvement. I stopped using the Tazorac on my back / chest.

I have noticed an immediate improvement on my back. My chest has a few flare-ups, but I am having the same regimen as well. I wonder why .

Ive also stopped swimming, and with showers instead to avoid the possibility of a dip in a bath full of bacteria. I threw my pouffy-bushy thing with a shower and got clean cotton washcloth every time I shower.

I have not tried u0026 H S on my face (something about cleaning with shampoo still bothers me .). Im using DHC. When I was exhausted from the DHC, I will try u0026 H S, as the DHC is $ 69 and S H u0026 is about $ 3.50. I am also still using Retin-a micro on my face. Im not sure Im brave enough to stop it. My face is clear, so there is no need to.

Anyone else to try something like this? Remove all acne products?

Reply:I have very sensitive skin also. I won't use face washes with acne treatment in them anymore. I've used Purpose and st. ives apricot for sensitive skin is awesome. I also use Dove bar soap. The only acne treatment I use is 2.5% BP topical. The whole eliminating acne washes worked so great for my face. I was almost clear and had a nice glow and more even skin tone. BUT body acne became a huge issue for me so I started Yasmin which screwed everything up because of the initial breakout. I still continue to use very gentle cleansers and H&S for body wash.

Reply:Well, I've kept this regimen up and I have noticed a MAJOR improvement in my back. I started getting a few blackheads across my shoulders, so I have been using a tiny bit of retin-a micro mixed with my moisturizer. I think in the past, I used too much topical cream and it may have irritated me. I have not noticed any irritation with the lesser amount of retin-a.

Maybe we're all over-medicating ourselves!…

I've also made an effort to get to bed earlier and drink more water. I'm pretty sure that has something to do with our skin. (On a side note, I had laser resurfacing on my entire face with a CO2 laser two years ago. For anyone who's had it done, you look like a burn victim afterwards – horrible! After a week of going to bed early and drinking as much water as I could tolerate, my skin was 100% back to normal. I didn't need to cover the redness with makeup because there wasn't any! My doctor could not believe how quickly I healed.)

So, drink up!

Reply:I have a suggestion about the bp your using.I read somewhere that it will be more effective if its kept cold in the fridge. Not only that try taking an ice cube and rubbing it across the broken out area.Get it good and cold not freezing.Take the cold bp and apply it to where your skins broken out.Put an ice pk on the area for 10 mins.Remove and wipe off any bp stuff left on the skin, followup with an moisturizer oil free of course,do it twice a day for 6wks and see it it helps.Take care.

Reply:I have sensitive skin – oily and dry at the same time. Certain cleansers and moisturizers seem to irritate it and cause blotchiness.

I figure if I'm so sensitive, maybe acne products are too harsh for me. I had read a post about someone who removed all harsh products from her skin care routine and saw improvement. I stopped using the Tazorac on my back/chest.

I have noticed immediate improvement on my back. My chest still has a few flare-ups, though I'm using the same regimen there as well. I wonder why…

I've also stopped bathing, and have been taking showers instead to rule out the possibility of soaking in a tub full of bacteria. I threw out my shower pouffy-scrubby thing and am using a clean cotton washcloth each time I shower.

I have not tried to H&S on my face (something about cleansing with shampoo still just bothers me…). I am using DHC. Remove all acne products?
Hi i have similar skin to yourself and decided to ditch B.P a couple of weeks ago and try a new natural regime.
I have been using an exfoliating face wash every couple of days and a natural face wipe daily,I haven,t noticed a massive improvement i have a couple of new spots but i haven,t noticed a major relapse or anything.
I feel better in myself and will continue for a few months to see if i can get the results i want,if not it will be back to b.p or a new regime
