capsules as the oil you spread on red marks and helps them heal faster? does this stuff cause acne more becaue it is an oil?

Reply:guy is right – the skin won't absord vitamin e fully, and it's liable to block pores. Aloe vera is a much safer alternative for alleviating any inflammation.

Reply:it doesn't work topically, it's too thick to be soaked into the skin.

My daughter has eczema all over her back and shoulders. There seems a lot of small bumps that are blocked her foliicles. Would her acne worse when her back loofahed to get rid of the clogged follicles?

Reply:Thank you Labyrinth, Spiro, Lindamm, Dan and Progary for all of you ideas and suggestions. She has been taking Doxycyclene(2 months) and it has helped her back acne. But then she went and used Nair to get rid of this baby fine hair on her back and her acne returned big time. It is worse than ever. She tried waxing once and it did the same thing.

I wish I could get her to change her diet to eliminate the sugar, fat and enriched flour, but that will never happen. She does drink only water.

Reply:guy, the 2 best products for body acne are Accutaine and Doxycycline.
You got to get them prescribed from a Derm.
I took Doxycycline and this did wonders for me.
It cleared me of my body acne.
You might get redmarks when the body acne goes down.
I would recommend using an AHA lotion like the Alpha Hydrox enhanced lotion.
It has 10% AHA in it.
Also, if you take Doxycycline.
Dont take it on an empty stomach.

Try the aspirin mask. It's worked wonders for many people.

Reply:Back acne and shoulder acne?! lol I laf cos I've got it tool. No biggy. Besides, body acne doesn't stop anyone from being attractive as long as they have a sexy body. Face acne(may be), but not body acne.

The closest and cheapest solution available. Drink only water, get a good sweaty excercise with an immediate cold shower and expose the skin to healthy sunlight. Reduce or cancel sugar, salt, animal fat, hydrogenated oil and enriched flour intake. Increase omega 3, 6 intake; did anyone say Salmon? (try some tender cooked salmon with sauteed carrots and avocado instead of Mcdonalds. Yum!).

Btw, It not easy to keep up a good habit, but I survive by eating the same kind of meals every weak and maintaining a good workout. I am actually addicted to asian meals like vietnamese noodle soups with sea weed and some nice sushi. My body acne hasn't gone away, but it's not any worse than it could be. I hope you find solutions for your daughter.

Reply:You could also try some waterbased prescription cream (dont use alcohol based because they can cause more problems) to clean up the spots

Reply:Well, I think it would have the potential to irritate her skin further. I'm not sure it would make her acne worse, but it could give her a rash. I wouldn't use something like that. Anti-dandruff shampoo works, or you could try Neutrogena Body Clear Body Scrub, something like that

Reply:I like Neutrogena body wash for acne. It costs about
$8 Can. It worked the last time I used it and I just purchased another bottle. I used it last night and can already see a slight difference. The acne seems to have dried out a little.

Reply:i've had a good response to yasmin. i also liked ortho novum 7-7-7. ortho tricyclen made me sick to my stomach all the time, and ortho evra (the patch) gave me ginormous cysts, as well as a sticky, icky black ring and a scaly patch where it was. i wouldn't recommend that to anyone!

Reply:If you think your acne is hormonal, Ortho Tri-cyclen and Desogen both have anti-androgenic (testosterone-binding) properties, which can help a lot. I've tried OTC and it didn't work at all for me (maybe it made it worse) but I'm on Desogen now and I love it. My skin looks a lot better and my periods are SOOO light. Yasmin is also good – it has a light dose of spironolactone, which effects potassium levels and stuff. I've never tried it but apparently it's been really good for other people. Reply:Diane 35 is handsdown the best. Within 6 weeks my skin cleared up, wasn't oily anymore, my hair looked great too because my scalp wasn't oily anymore. However, I had some side effect with it…because of the dosage, I was spotting all month long! I waited to see if it would adjust after the first 3 months but it was the same so after 5 months I stopped….otherwise, there's OrthoCept that worked really well for me.

Do you think that the red spots Acne leaves scars like? on my chin, I have a pair of red-brown patches on the locations where I had acne. how long these places last? will fade over time, and I can do something to accelerate that process? thanks

Reply:those red marks are called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. they will go away on their own but it can take a long time. there a few ways to help speed up the process:

1. Proteolytic enzymes peels
2. Lactic Acid peels
3. Products containg kojic acid
4. Products containing licorice root
5. Hydroquinone (you can get this 4% from a derm or 2$ over-the -counter.

i prefer the enzymes… they take of mine fast.

Reply:A true scar will leave some sort of mark permanently, although it may be a very small, unnoticeable mark. Most red/brownish spots are clusters of tiny blood vessels that formed to help heal the area, and will be absorbed by the body in time. Sometimes it will take up to a year.
I am currently using Alpha Hydrox oil free formula with 10% glycolic acid, which I feel speeds up the fading process a bit.

Hello. Im new here. Ill get to the point. I have red or dark red or some sort of mark on my cheek. The acne that caused me this much pain on the cheeks and hearts (I mean emotionally or spiritually on the heart part). Is there one thing that can heal or they relate to the color of the mark? I am Asian with a white color (not brown Im funny, but I am white in color, so you can see the mark very well).

Reply:I had these scars for months, and did you say that it'll cause things worse when you try to get rid of scars while still having acne?

Reply:meredith….don't risk it because your skin is very sensitive on accutane and microderm can cause scarring. Its best to wait 6 months to one year after your last dose of accutane before having any procedures (chemical peels, microderm,or other scar treatments) done. Even though at home treatments aren't as harsh, don't take the chance. Just worry about healing your acne now and worry about scars later.

xlonewolfxp…..consider adding some sort of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (i.e. glycolic acid) to your skin care regimen whether it be a cleanser or toner (homemade or store bought). AHAs dissolve the glue that holds dead, dry skin cells to the surface allowing them to shed quicker. This helps to alleviate hyperpigmentation and also to smooth out the overall skin tone.

Other things you can do is to wear sunscreen and to avoid the sun. Avoid drying your skin out and wear a moisturizer.

Most important, be patient because time is the best way to get rid of those spots. They are most likely not permanent and can take 1 month to 1 year to go away completely. By following the above you can speed up the process.

Reply:An at-home microdermabrasion kit might help to fade the red marks and even out your skin tone. The neutrogena one is supposed to be quite good.

It's much more expensive, but you can also get microdermabrasion done professionally.

Hello, Im fighting acne on my back and my shoulders now for 2 years, and now, many of the places are into scars. I do not think they are very deep scars, but hardly on the surface of the skin. What steps can I do to get rid of these scars? Ive hardly ever pull my shirt and go swimming now with these horrible scars!

Reply:i'd say maybe rub some aloe vera gel on it in the morning or maybe get neutrogena's mulivitamin face lotion to put on your back to fade the scars/marks.

Reply:i have the same **** on my back…it takes forever for it to heal up..even longer then the acne on my face. its mostly these big red marks…there is not much that you can do for it
