any advice? thanks so much!

Reply:Hey guy,
I'm jealous that you are going to a warm place! Anyhow, have you tried Cetaphil facial moisturizer with SPF? Don't know if SPF 15 will be enough for you, you may have to reapply if you are going for prolonged exposure. It did not cause me break outs…I just thought it was a little greasy under makeup, so now I don't use it for that, but for fun in the sun, it may be an option for protection. Have a blast!

For those of you who have used it, it is good to use just at night and my Rist Rain during the day to maintain results? It is OK after my makeup, but Ive noticed that makes me a tad fatter. (I do not want to have to pile on a skin-Matti proud, too.)
Thanks!

Reply:guyRRRRR,

To answer your question, I only wash with prescription Plexion wash in the shower in the morning. I don't use anthing else (medication, that is) during the day, or else I found I was getting the greasy feel and look. I limit all my treating to the evening time, namely the Retin A Micro and Finacea, and a little eye cream, of course.

Reply:Thanks for your replies!!! I think I'll just try it @ night then. If I seem to worsen, I'll just pick back up. DeeDeewith3, what do you use during the day, anything? I'm using the Skinoren and Regenerist. Thanks!

Reply:I use Finacea (azelaic acid gel) only at night although it is prescribed twice a day. I did think I was oiler when I used it during the day, so now I only use it once a day at night. I've still had favorable results.

[This message has been edited by guy (edited 10-16-2003).]

Reply:I've been using Azelex since May and I love it. I really didn't notice the oily effect some here have mentioned. Then again, my skin was so dried out from all the other crap I had used, I probably thought I finally looked normal
I used it only at night along with Bactrim and Ortho Tricyclen and had great results. (knock on wood)

Reply:I am a 25 year old male as well.
Right now I use J& J Purpose clear cleanser, followed by a Biore 2% Sali. Acid Toner and some Benzamycin.
Every other night I use Tazorac on past blemishes.

I also just started taking 75 mg of Doryx.

I am also looking for a new cleanser and or toner. Any suggestions?

Reply:thanks again for your reply jesseinsf, yes i am a male and i have used one of those concealer sticks when i was young…. like a freshmen in high school, but now i wouldnt feel comfortable using it, so i just gotta grind it out until my face gets better. keep me updated on your progress and i'll do the same! thanks again for your help and replies.

Reply:hey!…so yeah, i think it's just the initial breakout that you are experiencing…I HATE THAT!! its so embarassing and I work in the fashion business, so imagine how i felt coming to work everyday! i'm still using that dermafina, but i really dont think that stuff is working so i think im gonna switch over to noxema, its been around for years and years so i figure that there has to be something to it u know…we'll see, huh…the only thig that i wish is that my face would TOTALLY clear up…i still have about 4 or 5 small bumps, but im so glad that it is nowhere near where it was just last month…I've been on the treatment for a little over a month…depending on how comfortable you are with it (that is if you are male)…dont laugh, I'm a guy, but i've used this concealer stick by nutregena, it has acne fighting ingredient in it, (syllic acid)and it conceals the red mark…just a thought, its made the days easier for me…but i know that alot of guys would feel weird about buying something like that…

Reply:thank you so much for the reply jessnsf…. how long have you been on the regime for? I am now going on day 15 and my face is worse than when i started, it is alot smoother though from the retin-a. thats weird i have had problems mainly just on my cheeks and sides of my chin too. i expected an initial breakout so hopefully thats what im going through, hopefully in the next week or two the initial breakout will be over.what face wash do you use now? thanks again and im glad to hear things are working for you, hopefully i'll start seeing results sometime soon.

Reply:ok so ur basically on the same treatment that I am on….and let me tell u, I am totally seein an complete turn around..just stick with it…i never had bad acne, though i have always had breakouts, until just a couple of months ago…it got so bad that i finally just went to see a derm, and thank GOD i did. I had never experienced acne like that before. I mean my cheeks and chin were completely broke out, but nowhere elsa, and this was like for two months straight, and i still dont know what did it!! it was either the cleanser i started using (dermafina) or it was because i started using a tanning bed!! anyway, Im happt to report that my face has cleared up about 95%

Reply:anyone? please someone respond i am really in need of anyones opinions or advice….

What is the difference, if any, of Differin Gel and Cream?

Also . when these medicines on your face (like Differin and Azelex) How much do you use and will make a difference if you do not use the exact right amount?

Reply:I just started using the Differin cream two nights ago. I have combination skin and my doc put me on it everyother night. She gave me the gel. My skin did not feel dry with it it feels fine. with that she also put me on another cream to use on the alternate nights. I will check tonight to see what it is called. This other cream is a bit more drying. and it made my skin a little pink this morning when i woke up.

Reply:okay yeah i used to use the gel and i used teh cream last night and it felt a lot les dry..but i was wondering if the cream seems to ioly for me can i switch to the gel again for acouple of days and it won't matter or will it matter if i switch between the two? tahnks.

Reply:i'm not positive, but i think the gel has more alcohol in it, which is drying, and is better for those with oilier skin.

101 Home Uses Of Hydrogen Peroxide.
Reply:Do you use Azelex day and night, or just day? Maybe I should forget the Retin-A and just add Azelex to my night regimen?
guy

I use the Azelex at night and the Glytone in the morning just because I wanted a moisturizer and this seemed to help, but you could try using the Azelex night and day and see if that helps.

Instant Acne Remedy
Reply:Are you breaking out constantly or just occasionally? Are they related to your cycle? Does the Proactiv face wash dry your skin out?

The Proactiv face wash doesn't really dry my skin out, but on the days when my skin is feeling dry, I use Cetaphil. I rarely flake at all, except if I do an overkill spot treatment, and then I peel about 2 millimeters around the spot that I was trying to annihalate. I usually have 1-2 spots on my face, and get about 1 cystic spot the week before my period (so yes, I guess it is related). I'm on birth control pills (Marvelon), but I don't think they're making much difference.

Do you use Azelex day and night, or just day? Maybe I should forget the Retin-A and just add Azelex to my night regimen?

SuperNatural Solutions to Adult Acne & Aging
Reply:I would have to agree that using all those products might be too much. I have been using Azelex for about 6-7 months now and I love it. I use a prescription face wash called Brevoxyl that is a BP base and use Glytone Daily Lotion as a moisturizer (glycolic acid), so I am kind of using the same combo as you. I tried RAM about a year ago and it did absolutely nothing for me. Are you breaking out constantly or just occasionally? Are they related to your cycle? Does the Proactiv face wash dry your skin out?

Eat Away Your Acne, How To Enjoy Food & Cure Your Acne
Reply:i think your going overkill, all that will most likely get rid of your spots, but horribly make your skin look disfigured, sorry but you will experience extreme dryness flakeyness, and possibly even more breakouts if u use all them topicals, acne isnt healed by what you put on your face, but what goes in, obviously if ur acne is severe then usage of strong topicals may aid, but all of them will ruin your skin, sorry mate.

The azelex cream is rx only by a doc and I'm pretty sure they have it in the u.k. The Zap It bar is over the counter antibacterial soap with 10% BP. It's made by one of the big companies, clearasil, oxy, etc. I can't remember which though….both of these are working wonders for me!

Jacks Jock Itch Be Gone!
Reply:Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I started using it two nights ago, and I have to say
wow! I had a huge zit, the kind that is under the skin that hurts, about the size of my chin! Anyway its almost gone! I only use it at night, and I do notice that it will sting a little on the zit, but not anything horribly painful. Another little trick I found for those zits that are already out there, Origin makes this stuff called spot remover. It dries them up so fast! Let me know how you are doing on it. How often do you use it? Do you use a mositurizer after? I wash my face with Cetaphil, my derm recommended, and then apply the azelex cream. I wonder if you can put mositurizer on after? Good luck!

Wooo Hooo guy! That's great to hear the you are responding well to the azelex! I have just done my third night and I have to say I continue to be impressed with the results! I now have no bumps at all under my skin and I have a few little scabs and three marks which appear to be fading already! I don't know why in the word I was never put on this stuff before?! Hmmm, well my derm told me to start using Zap It soap and as soon as I wash or get out of the shower – pat my skin dry – apply the azelex. Then after put a moistrizer on…..one with sunscreen for day and a regular moisturizer at night. So the night time one after azelex cream is called Vanicream and then I use Olay Complete for day time. So I use the Azelex 2 times day day. I haven't noticed any crazy drying. A bit of itching after I apply, but it goes away quickly.

I'll have to check into the spot remover stuff. Sounds like another great product!

Good luck to you also!

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Here is some background first: In my first derm visit: I was prescribed azelex, clindamycin and doxycycline. I stop using the anitbiotic and clindamycin, and now Im just using azelex. I went back to the derm and he prescribed more azelex – 45 grams (of 30 I was using) and Retin A 0.025% – 45 grams (which I never used). I deleted the azelex however, very significant, I have many small bumps and blackheads and whiteheads that I need to get rid of. Im just looking for some comments from people who have used the combination of azelex and Retin A, or have used one of them.

thanks and God bless.

ps. – I have no insurance and Retin A will cost about 170 and about 70 azelex – Im not sure I can the regime of using both consistantly afford. which one is my best bet? (I live in the Virgin Islands – thats why they are more expensive than the mainland)

14 Days Acne Cure
Reply:It sounds like you are paying out of your pocket. You have a doctors script so do a search for online canadian pharmacies and order it from canada. It should be about $30 -$40. for the retin a. I don't know about the azelex but it should be half the amount also. Even with paying shipping cost it will be very affordable.

Okay, so I came here a while back the question of what to do for my “after notice”. I had acne and after a while when actauly pimples went away still like ooked acnes (although smotth) b / c of the red marks!

I went TO doctor and he said to the first use something to STOP the pimples (antibiotics, differin gel). Then make those red stains disappear using this Azelex Cream. My face looks so much better and although there is some hint of red on my cheeks that helped a lot. So if anyone has a problem with red markings on their acne pevious ask your doctor about Azelex.

Ice Cream Truck Profits. Make Fast & Easy Money
Reply:Do you have to see a derm to get azelex or do u just go to your nearest pharmacy and ask for it?

Become Ageless Instantly
Reply:Im not sure if its availabel there..I'm assuming?

yes, I think along with your Azelax use, you still have to have some sort of creamor antibiotics to help stop the pimples so those don't come and leave red marks.

So yeah probably around 20 dollars for the Azalex. Hope this helps!

Cure Your Yeast Infections Fast!
Reply:I have been using Azalex for about a year, and I love it. Just recently, I made the mistake of stopping my routine of Azalex & Retin-A micro (switched to Carley's – big mistake), and I didn't realize just how bad my skin could get!! In that one month, I went from pretty clear to really horrible skin. I have been back on the Azalex/Retin-A now for just two days, and my red marks are already looking better, and most of the pimples I had gotten are going away. Now I am probably going to have to suffer through my pores unclogging – expecting a big "initial breakout" – but I guess I deserve it for stopping the routine that I knew was working. Azalex works for me.

Chronic Back Pain – Long Term Relief
Reply:Hmm well I think it was 20 or 30 dollars (with my insurance so it could be different). I noticed results gradually within acouple weeks I believe. I was very good with it, washing my face with a plain soap then putting it on everyday..I think twice a day for awhile then I did it once a day. Of course it won't work overnight but it does work!!
I hope this works!! Keep us posted please.

Stop Biting Your Nails Now!
Reply:My derm just prescribed me Azelex Cream today! I am also on Erthromycin. I'll let you know how the Azelex Cream works for me!

How To Travel The World As A Vegan
Reply:Was the medication expensive? When did you start noticing the difference? I also have red marks left from acne (it's smooth but still red so it looks like I still have acne). Been trying to find a way to get ridd'em but scared to try anything b/c I don't want to break out. I'm currently using DUAC and differin gel.. and then taking dynacin (brand named minocycline) and also Yasmin. SO I feel like I'm doing everything… I also tried laser and that did NOTHING. What a waste of money!
