Hi all,

Im new to the forums, and was wondering how long does the treatment process to be completed mostly with moderate acne? At the moment Im on Differentiated Triaz gel pads (6% benzoyl peroxide), Dynacin (antibiotic), and a gentle facial cleanser, and it works well. All input is greatly appreciated – thanks!

Im using small packets of benzoyl peroxide once a day, it works pretty well, but for some reason my skin does not dry out or peel but is actually fatter and reddish. I stopped using it to see what would happen, and about a week after I stopped my face does not look bad, but there is much of what appears to be little pimples form, I wonder if that is simply because Ive stopped suddenly after using this treatment for a few years?

I have acne for 8 years, lets just say that I slowly grew out of it. Ive tried over the counter products and even Accutane. But I noticed that the harder the product is more it is advertised. I see many of you are game for Sal and benzoyl peroxide. Acid. The heavier the product the more will your skin, your acne will worsen aggrevate. At this time, my acne is not as bad as it used to, but Im using Dove unscented Beauty Bar and Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream and its worked hard to change the appearance of my dark acne spots to illuminate. I remember with Proactiv when I first used the vacuum it left me with a red face, it seemed like I burned bad, it was horrible! Make sure to take vitamin E and your B vitamins, eat sensibly and regular exercise of course. Im sure it will work well. Just not too much stress, I know how it feels to be depressed about your acne, but the more you are on the problem the more it seems hopeless. Be gentle with your skin, keeping things simple. The less you have on your skin, the more it can breathe and allow themselves to heal. Be careful.

you can apply it after you use a cleanser on your face, make sure your face is dry though.

Does anyone know of a benzoyl peroxide cleanser 2.5 I can get common store such as Rite Aid, Duane Reade, etc?

Reply:the acnefree cleanser has a 2.25%, you can buy it in CVS, and my neutrogena clear pore cleanser/face mask has a 3.5% benzoyle peroxide. i never tried acnefree, but i like the neutrogena one, it has come closest to actually getting my pores somewhat clean. hope that helped.

im on Accutane, the use of clean / clear benzoyl peroxide Facial Cleanser, toner and moisturizer for Proactiv.
i as toner and Bout the only thing I buy for (i buy the generic stuff that the exact ingredients Walgreens $ 20 for it) cuz the toner is just nough to my skin to moisturize and it only takes bout all day . . plus its not greasy and makes my pores become clogged, like lotions do.

is a toner that is thats just bout the same ingredients as Proactiv one and the same work? (Reduction of redness and nough just my skin to moisturize after a shower) 0.

ITD save my TONS when I bottle buy for just as $ 5 – $ 10 instead of $ 20 for 3 things and 2 i dont even use of

I have a reaction tube cream, similar to what happened when she Benzac me. I checked the ingredients and saw benzyl alcohol. I wonder if this is all related to benzoyl peroxide.

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what I was doing wrong. Before I go to bed, I look on my face to see how much I have acne. Whatever I have, Ill wash spectroderm, put on some benzoyl peroxide, take 50mg of zinc, and go to bed. When I wake in the morning, I check my face, and Im scared of new acne, or see if the old acne. I usually get my acne on my nose, around my mouth and my eyes underneth. How come no matter what I do, I get more acne? I have a combination of oily and dry skin, I try to watch what I eat, I drink lots of water, and Im pretty active. So wtf am I doing wrong? I would appreciate an opinion, because acne is ruing my life, I can not take anymore.

Reply:Your skin could also be having a bad reaction to the BP. Some people's skin gets irritated by it, and actually ends up breaking out more because of it!

Have you tried a salicylic acid (BHA) product yet? It helps to clean out the pore linings, which clears acne and helps to prevent new pimples. Paula's Choice BHAs are the best that I've ever used! They're only available online, but they are definitely worth checking out!

most likely the zinc that is causing it. I've been taking zinc for over a year and when i first started i was breaking out for about 6-7weeks

Reply:I don't want to take any antibiotics because my derm told me that once you get on them, they might work for awhile, but then your body will build up resistence to them, and then they become useless. When you get off them, the acne then comes back even worse, and you can't even use antibiotics anymore because your body has already built up resistence to them.

Reply:I have been taking the zinc for about a month. I heard that zinc was supposed to be good for acne?

Reply:You didn't mention any antibiotic. Maybe that would help for starters.

I know all the literature says that 2.5% BP is just as effective as 10%, but my experience agrees. I can also tolerate high levels of BP very well due to my Italian genes (excess oil!: D)

I used to 9% BP cream by Triaz (persciption love). But about a year ago supposedly stopped marketing the ice and it just wipes (I want a cream). So I switched to 8% gel Brevoxyl (also perscription) 0.

They both work equally effective, but I liked how the cream was Triaz. It was smooth and felt like putting moisturizer on my face. With Brevoxyl, I feel it smells like a flower shop: D and its not as “lotion-y” feeling.

What BP brand do you use? I am interested in high% s (8%, 9% or 10%) 0.

Reply:oopsie, i'm not going to mention anything high. i got 2.5% and sometmes I use the 5% one from Life brand. Pretty cheap, and unprescribed plus, it's plain bp, and i use my own lotion after i put it on. the lotion i use is really good and perfect for sensitive and/or dry skin. if you are interested, i'm using Cetaphil. I use their face wash too which is my absolute favourite. i naturally don't have a real problem wth acne, just the normal blemishes here and there so this is the perfect combo for me and now my face is flawless.

Ive heard many people say that the use of BP can fade acne scars a lot slower than normal. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? If so, what makes that happen? I would appreciate any help! Thanks:)

Reply:um anthor…I have been clear for 2 years now…so I would not generalize that which you do not know.
BP can be slower due to it being more drying and scars heal better with moisture..that is one of the reasons it is killing the good bacteria along with the bad and slows the process of healing.
if the pimple has cleared you really should try to not put anything on it or a moisturizing healing lotion..if your skin can handle without breakout.

Reply:The people saying that benzoyl peroxide is making their scars fade slower may just be sensitive to benzoyl peroxide and it is making their scars appear more irritated than they should be. Just an idea, hope it helps. And everyone's different so i guess i wouldn't know all about this for sure. My personal experience with benzoyl peroxide is, yes, it can make my skin a little irritated (if i'm sunburnt or if i put on too much), but it hasn't slowed the healing of any scars. Good luck

You shouldn't expect to get any positive information or experiences from these boards, why? Because people who use them aren't clear.

I'm using BP along with Retin-A and Doxycycline and my scars are fading perfectly.

Think about it.
