My question is there is an expensive operation which they may like your skin to remove or make replacements. Forget laser peel and all that stuff were familiar with, not people who are rich suvere acne, the skin grafted to get there or something? There is a clear price for skin.

How person can turn away from black to white, and we are unable to get rid of some zits!

Reply:The guy obviously has suvere mental issues. He should be in a nut bin not in jail

Reply:Michael Jackson actually had very bad acne as a teenager and was deeply ashamed of it. It is thought that this self conciousness of his face and treatment from his abusive father started his obsession with plastic surgery. So yes, he did clear up his acne and scars with very expensive surgey… although lost perspective of it al and went way too far.

Reply:ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?!?! He's not going to jail!!! He's a friggin' celebrity – if O.J didn't go, what makes you think M.J.'s gonna go?

he's not gonna look to good if he goes to jail…no makeup, him growing out of his permed hair…

Reply:he's not gonna look to good if he goes to jail…no makeup, him growing out of his permed hair…

Reply:Nope, he never bleached it. The Vitiligo causes blotches and he uses makeup to balance it out. I believe he also often wears a silk face mask while out in the sun.

Patrick

Reply:he had the skin disease and decided to bleach his skin to balance it out throughout his erntire body

Reply:Yeh, this is true…however he has had his skin streched so much that it's soo thin. I believe he recently had surgery again to help with some of this? Poor guy, im a guy too but i have to admit he did look good when he was younger. I dont find him a freak, just a poor poor guy.

Patrick

Reply:i think michael jackson actually has some sort of genetic pigment-destroying skin disorder that runs on his dad's side of the family.

Reply:You'd think they'd be able to completely change our skin with some luxury surgery though. Remove the old and replace it with something more acne-friendly.

Reply:Yea I know you would think that they could do something. Michael Jackson is a whole other story though. Whatever he did to his face, he now has no pigment left.
I am 33 and have always had clear skin until about a month ago — now, my face and neck have big things like postule — — —- it looks terrible I havent changed my eating habits or — cleaners or something and was wondering if could be the stress? If not what causes it? Thanks!

Reply:I don't know, Vortex. Perhaps the other B Vitamins. Perhaps magnesium because it is necessary for activating B Vitamins.

Reply:Vortex a bad vitamin is any vitamin that your body can't use or which aggravates other needed nutrients. Large amounts of one vitamin can cause deficiencies in another. The thing is you won't know if a vitamin is bad or not. The only way you can really tell is by listening to your body. All synthetic vitamins are bad; the ones that are not from natural food sources.
i take around 1-2g of B5 a day, could this cause a deficiency in other vitamins?
All synthetic vitamins are bad; the ones that are not from natural food sources.

Reply:One last thing I just thought about while re-reading your post. You mentioned that you have always had clear skin. Do you mean for awhile now (after having it in your teens?), or have you had clear skin throughout your teens/20's etc. The reason I ask this is because many dermatologists have found that alot of people who go through their teens and sometimes twenties with a clear complexion will develop adult acne in their twenties, thirties etc. I'm not to fond of dermatologists (though some of them can be helpful)…but just wanted to pass on some information that I have read in a few magazines and heard from a few dermatologists. If it continues and it appears to not be stress/diet/vitamin etc. related, you may either consider seeing a dermatologist, or getting some blood tests (to make sure everythings right on the inside). Take care.

Reply:Jennifer, have you been stressed lately? Vortex is right. Also, you say your diet hasn't changed but, have you started taking any medications or vitamin supplements recently? Bad vitamins are notorious for causing breakouts, and also certain medications.
interesting, guy can you give me a summary of some of those bad vitamins?, just out of curiousity please.

Reply:When stress is involved or is the cause of your acne, there are a few things you could easily try to resolve the problem. Most people find that yoga, meditation, breathing techniques, work out or dance classes, herbal teas, 8 hours of sleep each night, and drinking more water/eating healthier (because this helps your body deal with the effects brought on by stress) all help to greatly reduce or eliminate the problem. Also, you mentioned that it was recently (and out of no where) brought on. Could you possibly be having an allergic reaction to something? Maybe a new food you ate, soap you have used, perfume, etc? If you have stressed before and not broken out to the severity that you are now, it could possibly be an allergy. People can develop allergies or sensitivities to various things throughout their lifetime (regardless if their body could handle it before)..or atleast I have found this to be the case with other people I know. Relax, treat your body well, and eat healthy….also try to relieve some of that stress!

Reply:Yup, Stress is a contributor to acne, only recently my Ex girlfriend spread a rumour about me having sex with her, and that just totally stressed me out, i broke out with like 1 or 2 small spots, basicly try to relax as much as possible, eat the right foods(Vegetables, Fruit, Gluten Free Foods mainly, and foods free of Hydrogenated oil), etc, Take a good vitamin supplement, B5 Complex, Vitamin C, etc, at your age the chances of your acne being hormonal are very small, so im guessing this is just stress related, to the acne should subside pretty soon. , don't pick at it, or else it may scar, and because your older your metabolism is probably not as good as it would be when you were young so don't pick!, follow my steps, apply a good topical to increase skin cell turnover and help subside your active acne.

Reply:Stress is a large known contributor to acne.
I am always afraid it will return. Recently I started to feel better about everything and began to relax about my appearance again and got a boyfriend. I go a little further from the topic I know now, Ive dumped yesterday so I feel like crap again! I am so angry because this is the millionth time Ive been badly treated by a guy, I never properly treated. Beginning to think there is something wrong with me. I didnt go with anyone for one year because I was afraid of being hurt from my past experience when I started seeing this guy, I go back for a long time because I was scared and once I let my guard, and was He feeds me emotionally attached to the whole im not ready for a relationship, now you are not its me, blah blah blah bull. Just when things were beginning to improve, I feel crap again. In all my relationships (not just this), I stood up, abandoned, cheated, lied also ignored, insulted, hit and now I feel I cannot again and will always be alone, because i cannot face the weather. Sorry everyone to go off topic, but felt like I wanted to say and you seem a friendly bunch. I wonder if I never had problems with my skin, I would have been less affected.

Reply:thank you, that is true. ive been stressed about it recently and my skin had got little bit worse. I will not let it bother me. Better to loose a lover than love a looser! Thanx x

Reply:Cheer up! Stress aggrevates acne. They had a whole article in one magazine recently which talked about how adult acne is on the rise, especially among women, and that stress is the main cause. Don't let him take away your clear skin!

to everyone who reads this, Im totally clueless about how make-up or anything else can cover up acne. that sounds really sad because Im a teenage girl, but Ive never had any interest in makeup or fashion. Im not a slob or something or what other people might consider a nerd, but I did not care. Anyway, Ive always wondered how people make-up can make acne look like they have clear skin without clogging pores and makes it worse. Im not going to start with the makeup, but Im just curious how it works

Reply:that's cool; it may come in handy if i ever decide to try some. actually, i've never used any kind of makeup before, not even lipstick or eyeshadow. sometimes i almost wish i knew how cos the bumps on my forehead make it look red & blotchy sometimes but i don't know how to use it or have any. the only time there was makeup on my face was when my cousin & my neighbors used me as a guinea pig but i didn't like it on me & it got in my eyes. i'm almost twice the age of another of my cousins & she's crazy about the stuff & she's not even 10 years old. if i was still in school i might have considered using it but it doesn't bother me so much now but i wish it would leave. later

Reply:I am a guy, so I don't wear makeup, and my wife doesn't wear much makeup, so I never knew how WELL makeup can hide acne.

I was at the gym at work, and I saw a woman who I had seen for many years around work. Her skin always looked good when I saw her before. But, she must have washed off her makeup to work out, and I couldn't BELIEVE how bad her acne really was! It was very hormonal, along her jawline and all. (for the record, I obviously do not have a problem with her having acne, since I suffer from it myself…I was just amazed that the makeup made her face look completely flawless when in fact her acne was 10 times worse than mine).

Since this revelation I realized ALL the people you see on TV could hide significant acne with makeup. I just never realized how well it could work.

And NO, I don't plan on using makeup on my face. I have learned to accept that my hereditary acne will be with me forever.

Reply:wow-sorry, i just wrote that whole thing then re-read ur post and saw the last line that i missed about your not wanting to use makeup anyways, so i guess what i just wrote was worthelss- sorry!

Reply:hey- i'm also a teenage girl, i don't like wearing foundation that much either, but i do like doing eyemake up and stuff…..so i know a lot about it i guess. okay, first of all you have to pick the right foundation- if you have acne prone skin, as i'm guessing most people here do, you need to pick one that is both non-comedogenic and oil-free. i personally use clinique "stay true makeup oil free formula" and really like it, it does not make me break out at all, and gives a really nice matte finish,it is $17- a little expensive- but it does use good ingredients, which is the most important thing when you are putting anything on your skin- especially something that is going to stay on there all day long. i'm sure you can find other foundations in the drug store that are less expensive, you just have to look around and find one that meets your personal needs, i had good luck and coverage with physicians formula products also, which are a lot less expensive……now, to apply the make up. i hope i'm not schooling you on something you already know how to do- just from your post i gathered you needed the total breakdown……so if you don't, i guess you can stop reading this now. anyways, to apply the makeup i use either cosmetic sponges or a small makeup brush. use the brush to put a small amount of the foundation on a acne spot, or use the sponge- dabbing in a cicular motion- to cover a greater area. some people prefer to put the foundation all-over on their whole face, i just like to use it for spot treatment, who knows which is better….some people also like to end with some powder to set the makeup- i only do this for a special occasion usually, cause i figure one less thing on my skin- the better if at all possible…..i've also heard people recommend some sort of green stick thing that you can put on red spots before the foundation that makes them less noticeable since red and green are compliments i guess,i personally haven't used one of these though, so i really couldn't say how it works. hope this helps, good luck! and also, even though you said you don't like to wear make up, sometimes i like to play up my eyes or lips say just to try to draw attention away from my skin……vain, but sometimes it helps.

Reply:Makeup helps to reduce the redness caused by the acne. A yellow-based cover cream or stick works wonders with hiding redness or blotchy skin. It also minimizes the severity of how bad it looks on the face. It obviously cannot make the bumps disappear but it does quite a bit for the individual to have people looking into their eyes when being spoken to rather than the "third eye" growing in the middle of the forehead. Also, some makeups have alcohol or something similar in the ingredients that helped to dry the pimple quicker.

Jeeez wouldnt things so much easier if we werent taxed by these foolish acne? I know theres many ppl who did worse than me still, but . I hate it!

Reply:Since I don't wear any makeup at all & can't get anywhere, I guess my favorite part of being clear would be having a face that's all 1 color.
minus the blotchy, bumpy forehead

I'd also love to wake up one day & not see bumps

Once when I went to my eye doctor, I was sitting far back & could just see my forehead from a distance & it was almost as red as my hair!
that is such a crock
I think it's gotten better though.. I hope
hehe

Reply:-to be able to have my boyfriend sleep over and not worry about having the make-up rub off when I kiss him or take a shower (I actually have to turn him down when he wants to sleep over because of my face)

-to not be a slave to my mirror

-to not cry every time I look in my mirror

-to know that when people look at me it's not because they're staring at my acne

-to be able to leave the house without a ton of make up (which I haven't done for 7 years)

-And the absolute best thing would be not CONSTANTLY thinking and worrying about it, so I could focus my thoughts and attention on other things

Reply:* not having such a greasy face within an hour of washing it

* never having to look at all the millions of blackheads on my T-zone

* knowing I don't need make-up

* the confidence boost it would give

Reply:Best part of having clear skin?

Hmmmm……just being happy being me.

Knowing that I am just as good as everyone else.

Reply:its so nice to hear u guys say all this about wot u'd love to do if u dint have acne, its exactly the same as me and i dont even have any friends or people i know wiv acne. just poor me.
id be able to…
*stay at my bfs without goin bed cemented in make up, and gettin up extra early to re-apply it so wen he wakes up he cant see the cysts and all those ugly things.
*not havin to get my mum to say 'emma's not in' wen the door bell rings.
*to go simming
*to wear my hair back. i also havent wore it up for about 5 yrs, and had to quit a new job coz the rules were to have hair tied back.
*to be able tonot care wen its windy, worryin about the wind blowin m hair away and showing my face.
*to be able to wear just a tinted moisturiser insted of thick layers of Dermablend foundation and powder etc
*to actually feel confident, summet i havent been able to feel for years!!

Doesnt it all just suck?

——————
Smile

Reply:Vinny, those are the last words I'd ever thought I'd hear from anyone. Thanks so much. Keep trying and don't give up!

Reply:guy I want ur face!!!!

Reply:anonymou5, I feel your pain I hate it when summertime comes because of the acne in those areas as well. Is very depressing

Reply:You think you have it bad?! At least you don't have a whole bunch of acne scars on your back and chest, I'm too embarassed to take my shirt off at the pool or any waterparks. It really sucks, these scars KILL ME!

Reply:I pretty much agree with everyone here. I would love to go without any foundation and powder at all! And I sure do miss wearing my hair up in cute clips or pony tails. If these pimples on my cheeks would go away maybe I can one day! Makeup is awful in the summer time too cause it always feels like its melting off, ugh!

Reply:I wish I could walk into any store and buy any face wash on the shelf.

Reply:here's one i wish for…
when people stare at me as im walking through school i would no longer assume it's because my skin is screaming at them, but because i am looking HOT

Reply:Wow! All of you guys seem to be going through everything I am! (i'm new here!) I can't wait till i wont have to wash my face all the time and can go to bed once without washing my face and being perfectly clear the next day. Not crying when I look in the mirror. Not havin to wonder if someone is a friend to me or just feels sorry for me. Not havin to worry what other people are thinkin and not bein rejected (or at least feel like it) I would have the most perfect life if I didnt have acne!! It is ruining my teenage years and Im only 14!!! SO i am patiently waiting!!!!!

——————
*~*°k??§???°*~*?

Reply:Not worrying about your face 24/7!! I am really obsessed with acne & my scars!

Reply:NO MAKEUP………. I hate wearing alot of makeup and am forced to wear foundation sometimes to cover up really bad pimples. ALso-nott worrying people are staring at my pimples instead of me (which does happen) and not feeling like a freak when I go out to be the only girl in the bar with skin like mine! I would just feel better about me not like a giant infection or something.

Reply:Being able to walk into a room full of strangers with confidence and talk to new people without feeling self concious.

Reply:Thats it not feeling self conscous. is that the same as anxiety?

Reply:Wearing a tank top and not having my upper back/shoulders look like a war zone.

Reply:Having my BF touch my face! He put me through he!! about not being able to touch my face and now that my face has cleared up and is more beautiful than it ever he never touched it once.

Reply:Having clear skin means less time in the morning with that stupid cover up stick and finally being able to wear my hair back. And I'm glad to say that I finally did it today!

Reply:I'd love being able to have people over all the time, not having to quickly put makeup on before someone comes over, or even answering the door for that matter. Being able to go out makeup-free and knowing you look great. Wearing my hair up sometimes, I haven't put my hair up in about 7 years. Not worrying about the lighting you're in…And everything else that's listed on the 1st post..

I wish..

Reply:wow that sounds like heaven … I hope I can get to that point someday… I think not having to be a slave to my mirror (and I'm a guy, too) and not feeling like everyone's looking at my face would be the 2 most important things I WANT to happen when I get clear skin … I know people say it's what's on the inside that counts, but, I mean, your face is the first thing people see.. and like it or not, that's how they judge you for the first time.. I try not to be so worried about it all the time, but I can't help it

Reply:It is (now!). . . being able to have short hair which shows my face, not wearing makeup, getting out of the shower and going, not running to a restroom to blot oil every hour, the luxury of worrying about other things for a change, not being a slave to a mirror, not second-guessing whether people are checking out my skin and judging me, feeling "normal" and not freakish or inferior, feeling blessed and not damned.

Reply:Hey I thought i was the only one to do that.
Staying at the BF house and leaving the makeup on over night.
god it used to feel so horrible waking up in makeup and i bet it was all smudged and smeared off.

I also used to embarrased when i was in town with a whole load of friends and my bf and then he would say to me your face is flaking underneath your makeup and u can see it.
I went straight home after that,
thankfully i am not with him anymore, he just used to make me feel worse.

Reply:so true especially about not letting your bf touch your face, i'm the same way. to your list i would add: not having to deal with that awful feeling when you wake up to see terrible new spots on your face

Ive heard saunas are good for spots so thought I would check here.

Any help appreciated.

Reply:guy acne actually starts deep down in the follicle. Thats where thousands of skin cells buch together and clog the oil follicle. Mild acne may happen on the surface but cystic acne is way deep down.

Reply:I highly recommend against exposing your face to intense heat. I usually have little to no active acne, but only now I am having what to me is a huge breakout. I'm convinced it was because on both Sat and Sun this weekend, I had these very hot spas which caused my face to 'beat' with heat. I had previously expressed my view that intense steaming does cause acne and now I feel further persuaded, as it's too coincidental that I suddenly have a total breakout. I should have taken my own advice but it wasn't deliberate. Nothing else in my regimen I'm aware of has changed other than this hot spa so I blame the spa.

I also forgot how paralysing acne can be. It's only when you get a bad breakout when you really realise how debilitating acne is. I used to have FAR worse breakouts than I'm having now, but now that I'm used to acne free skin on the whole, I was practically a state of panic thinking "WHat the hell am I going to do. i have a client meeting tomorrow and a presentation on thursday and i'm already really stressed out with my general workloads." I don't have the time or energy to deal with this nightmare that is acne.

Cry,
AA

Reply:Acne is deep below the surface. Steaming feels good but does nothing for acne.

Not always it depends what kind of acne you have

Reply:And this is only my opinion, but I think saunas only help to clear pimples if its caused by surface dirt – being that saunas open the pores and makes you sweat which clears out the pore.

But, pimples are mainly caused by sloppy sloughing of the skins surface, infection of the pore and overproduction of oil. So, for these things I don't think saunas would help at all.

But, if your pimples are caused by stress and a daily sauna helps you relax then may it'll help!!

Reply:I think saunas and steam baths work best when you have a clean face to begin with. If you have make-up or sweat already on your face, when your pores open, I'd imagine it would make it worse. Washing your face after is necessary to get the additional sweat off.

Reply:Look at a cross section of the skin with an oil gland. The oil tube is surrounded by skin tissue and the oil follicle passes through this skin tissue to the surface of the skin. Now if you heat up anything it will expand. The expanded skin will press onto the sides of the oil follicle and try to close it, like pressing on a paper tube.

Reply:Steam does help to open the pores, and if you clean your face right after you can really clean out your pores good.

"guy", could you explain your reasoning a little bit more. I have read that cold water does open your pores, but I don?t completely understand your reasoning. If it shrinks the surrounding skin tissue how does it open the pore?

Reply:Its a myth that cold water closes the pores. Cold water opens the pores, be cause it shrinks the surrounding skin tissue allowing the pore to open.

Reply:I've found that steaming (either in baths or in steamrooms) can help acne a little bit by thoroughly opening pores and allowing your skin to breathe. However, I don't recommend going so far that your face is 'pulsing' with heat so to speak, as I think it risks irritating your face.

Remember, it's always a good idea to wash your face with cold water immediately following steaming, so as to close those pores after the job's done.

Bye,
AA

Reply:Acne is deep below the surface. Steaming feels good but does nothing for acne.

Reply:I hear it helps bring blood flow to the face, …for me, it helps me look more refreshed..
Ive been on the B5 for 25 days now and it hasnt help much with my acne- I do see a little less oil production but not much. My hair, lips, and eyes seem really dry but this is probly normal? Do you take your B5 and zinc at the time or ??????

My Dermo me on Retin A Microgel and clindagel. I have my eyebrows and upper lip waxed every six weeks. I got the gels to stop one week prior to waxing and the week thereafter, as directed by the salon. I love the gels and I want clear skin, but I do not want to give up my waxing. Has anyone else this problem and what do you suggest?

Acne Prone, 5 Steps To Clear Skin Starting From Within
Reply:I use both too. I hear what everyone is saying and my salon gives the same no waxing if using retin-A warning. However, I still wax my eyebrows. I know it's risky, but I found a method that works for me (not saying it will work for anyone else).

What I do is everynight, before using the retin-A, I take a q-tip, put vaseline on it and make a "ring" around my eye area and eyebrows (basically, I put a thin layer of vaseline on my eyebrows). This way, there is a barrier so that the retin-A doesn't touch the area. I actually got the idea off my derm when i said my brown were flaking. Obviously, he didn't recommend this specifically for waxing. He recommended it so that the retin-A wouldn't touch & dry out places like corners of eyes, eyebrown, corner of nose, lips, etc.

Anyway, since the vaseline stops the retin-A from touching the area I'm still waxing. I haven't had any problems with having my eyebrows waxed.

I do tell the salon that I have extremely sensitive skin tho — just to make sure I get a bit more protection.

How To Clear Acne Scars
Reply:Thanks for the replies. I have only gotten "burned" once, when I forgot to tell them I was using the retin-a. I'm okay now when I skip the days they advised me to and they also put a special cream on before they wax. I am concerned about the stopping and starting the topicals, as Laura said. I don't know if I'm just confusing my skin. I just really hate to give up the waxing. I guess I could get by without it. I mean, I'm not really hairy or anything, but I do have dark hair. Once you start waxing, it's harder just to tweeze. But I want pretty skin too, so what do I do? I guess nobody has found a way to do both?

Clear Skin Program – Acne Cure, Superb Conversion Rate 50% Commission!
Reply:DON'T DO IT! I did and it was painful and equivalent to a really bad sunburn!

Wrinkle and Skin Rejuvenation
Reply:Don't do waxing while on topicals!!!! I learned the hard way!

I used to get my eyebrows waxed while I was on Retin-A Micro and always wondered why my skin would be red and sore for about 3 days! Before topicals, it never happened to me, so I looked into it….turns out that topical acne medications actually thin out your skin! So when my skin would be red and sore after waxing, it was because the wax ripped off part of my epidermis!!!!!

It's a good thing that I didn't scar from it! I used to put Neosporin on the irritated area to help with the soreness, but I don't think it was worth it. I just tweeze now!

It is nice of your salon to warn you in advance, but if I was you, I would be worried about coming on and off your topicals just to get your eyebrows/lip waxed. Your skin might get "freaked" into more than one initial-type breakout every time you restart!

All in all, it's your decision…let us know how it works out!
