If you have used Tazorac for 7 weeks and no improvement (even with an antibiotic for the last 2 weeks of treatment), then it makes no sense to try Retin-A? I was wondering if these two topicals deal with the treatment of acne or the same as they are completely different and it would be worthwhile to Retin-A a try. It would also be worth using the Retin-A only for scar treatment? Ive heard that it is good for reducing scars – do not know if this is true. Thank you.

Reply:hello. I've been using retin-a for a little over 2 years, and overall i am happy with the results.

The way retinoids (or at least retin-a) work is that they induce your skin to grow and shed faster, and prevent them from clumping together.

So your pores get less clogged, because they are continuously flushed out, and your red marks dissappear much faster since your skin is shedding faster.

The only problem is that you have the initial breakout due to it pushing all the old crap out from your pores. My initial breakout started at the second week, and lasted for about 6 weeks on and off.

Retin-A isnt the magic answer. You'll still get acne, but it'll last much shorter, and less severe. I started out with moderate/severe acne, but now im in the mild/moderate range, and i don't get the cystic type anymore.

once you go on, your skin becomes more fragile, so no picking, and sun screen always.

Good luck

Reply:I'm 17 myself. I think Retin-A could work, it's has a great sucess rate over other topicals I'm told. But everyone's different, what might work best for one person, will be the worst thing for another. You'll just have to try it out for yourself. The initial breakout shouldn't be worse than any other breakout he's goten from medicines, they're usually mild and gone within a week.

My initial break out started at the end of week 1 and started to clear by week 3 and Now it's week 5 and I only have 2 active zits and the red marks from previous break outs. No new breakouts so far

Taking an anti-biotic greatly speeds up the process of clearing and preventing acne because it curbs the body's production of bacteria, which is a huge contributor to acne! I'm taking doxycycline at the moment and like it. Just make sure to take with food.

If you DO get put on retin-a, youll notice that his face will get red and dry, but that will go away once his skin becomes accustomed to it. When this happens it's extremely important for you not to quit because of this…it's just the retin-a doing its job. you might want to refer to my other post here:
http://{$MySite}/ubb/Forum1/HTML/019471.html

Talk to your doctor about the anti-biotics, I've had GREAT success with the cycline family (mino, doxy) they definately help

good luck with your son

Reply:To anthOr,(or anyone else with personal experience)
Thanks for responding. This is for my 16 yr old son. Taz didn't do anything for his acne in 7 weeks, it only made it worse. Do you think retin-a could work? If so, how bad would the initial breakout be? And how long would it last? What do you use with retin-a? Do you need to take an anitbiotic? Thanks

Reply:oh yeah, taz got rid of my zits but i was using too much and it made my face toooooo red….so im on retin-a .04% or something….im getting used to the drying it has and redness….thats supposed to go away and i only have about 2 pimples (active ones)

Reply:Both Tazorac and Retin-A are retinoids, but very different ones at that. Tazorac's active ingrediant is Tazaretone (spelling?) and Retin-A is Tretinoin, which is very similar to Accutane (ISOtretinoin).

Tazorac and Retin-A go about treating acne by preventing new lesions from appearing and treating active lesions, but they are completely different active ingrediants. I think it would be worth your time to try it for your acne.

Retin-A is good for the redmarks left over from previous breakouts because it peels the skin sometimes, leaving you with a new layer. Not too sure about ice pick scars tho..

Try it out! I'm on it. I didn't like taz, it was too powerful for my skin

Reply:Has anyone used both of these topicals? If so, did one work better than the other? (The retin-a rx is for.01% gel) Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think that there is a treatment that works as fast as you'd like … but if you have an event or something, maybe people could tell you about some of the treatments that you could start now (goal: permanently get rid of it)and ways to maybe cover it up in the meantime (temporarily hide it)? I'm sure people have ideas on how to temporarily cover it for an event or whatever…

P.S. If you're in Canada, there's a line of make-up called "Cover FX" that was designed specifically to cover scars by/at Sunnybrooke Hosptial in Toronto. Now they're selling it commercially in regular stores. I'm not sure if it's available in the US … but might be worth a web search. It works to cover everything from scars to pigmentation to acne.

Sorry for posting twice in a row, but I had two separate questions.

Has anyone tried any type of treatment (laser / surgery), immediately after treatment is Accutane? I know you suppose to wait 6-12 months, but i cannot wait that long, I really wish this problem would go forever.

Also I have some left over red marks and many swallow marks on my neck and lower part of my face. I have a dent in my cheek, in principle, all cysts acne I had in that area, I figure that will be the most difficult to treat.

Anyone have an opinion on what treatments to choose these types of scars / marks? I also want to smooth my skin a bit. Ive never had any kind of treatment scar on my face and I looked for things on the web only to find im more confused about what help do.

Please.

The Scar Solution – Natural Scar Removal!
Reply:It is smart to wait i dont want to further ruin my face, i was at cvs and i was about to purchase some vit k cream which i heard is really good.

I break out in little rash like marks every once in a while they fade a few hours later leaving a very tiny whitehead behind so i guess my skin is still sensitive.

Anyone know any good creams?

I see my derm next week maybe he can give me some good advice.

How To Clear Acne Scars
Reply:SMoothbeam does not work save your money it does nothing, I've had them. And I don't have bad acne just shallow scars on my check and temples it did nothing to help, i wasted a thousand dollars.

The Scar Secret – Remove Scars Naturally & Permanently – Pays 75% !
Reply:I think you will be amazed at how quickly your red marks will fade after Accutane. Your skin will just get better and better. Getting rid of the acne was just the first step in the accutane process.

Natural Scar Removal! 500k Buyers A Month High Payout Proven Product
Reply:I knew somebody who didn't wait 6 months before getting a relatively mild chemical peel… she's had this done in the past for years, at a much stronger dose. Anyway, she was barely one month after her Accutane cycle, and got a chemical peel, and reacted hard to it. She has developed Rosacea, and even after 2 years now, it's only slightly decreased (her face flushes in the slightest change of environment, going outside in the cold, in too hot weather, if she's sweating too much, etc. It turns red, gets EXTREMELY sensitive, hurts when she smiles, and always feels rough, almost like a rash).

Second Opinion Arthritis Treatment Kit – $48.50/sale
Reply:Hey NYkid, just wondering which doctor did you use?? I wondering whats the price for full face sunbeam laser. Is it a good idea to use this method? I just want to know the cost of this treatment in New York. Hoping to pay $300 for full face. Before hand thanks again. Anybody welcome to reply also.

Hamstring Treatment Manual
Reply:The DERM will give you advice but yeah wait atleast 6 months, the bad news laser is not going to take your scars completely but it will help. I think the only one who can pull that off is Michael Jackson!! lol

There is a couple things you can do for scars. But there is by no means "not much" that you can do. There is always one way out there that will work for somebody. People just have success with different treatments..

Reply:i'm thinking about microdermabrasion or cool touch.
my scars are not ice pick type. they are more like sausage shape. i also have some red/brown marks. I heard some sucessful stories about microderm, but not everyone responds well to it. I'm so sick of my scars. I wil give it a try.

Best Answer: Your primary healthcare professional should know where and send you to the right doc. But if he does not do it, may be there is some reason for it? May be you have some health condition and this medicine could make you some serious health problems? I think you should ask your family doctor what is the real reason for this.
Phentermine is highly regulated these days. It's next to impossible to get it, even over the internet, without a prescription. And even if you do find a site, it's probably not a reputable one. Scammers are starting to post links even here on yahoo answers (Scam sites are selling fake pills that just sound like phentermine – phenhermine, phentrimine and many more..)
The only way is to get it from a doctor.
None of the people I know who once ordered phen online still do it. The good online pharmacies have stopped selling it, and just scammers are
left who gladly take an advantage of this situation. If you will find a real and reliable source where you can still order the real stuff online then you will be very, very lucky. Just keep fingers crossed the pharmacy will be in business until your order arrives, because it can get closed any moment..
I stopped using phen 8 months ago and
started to take acomplia after I quit phen. It also works fine for me and I am losing a pound or a few every week.
It is very popular in UK, Germany and many other countries worldwide. Not so much in the US yet.
This is good site for Acomplia info if anyone's interested
http://www.acomplia-rimonabant-online.ne…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsPCTGyuf…

There is a couple things you can do for scars. But there is by no means "not much" that you can do. There is always one way out there that will work for somebody. People just have success with different treatments..

Reply:i'm thinking about microdermabrasion or cool touch.
my scars are not ice pick type. they are more like sausage shape. i also have some red/brown marks. I heard some sucessful stories about microderm, but not everyone responds well to it. I'm so sick of my scars. I wil give it a try.
