Tazorac user needs advice [tazorac] [acne]

Hi, Ive been looking over the message boards here and there are a lot of posts from Tazorac users who say it took about 5 weeks to work. Well, im in week 9 now, and while my acne has gotten a bit better, I do not know / don t think itll ever clean up. Tazorac users have needed this long to wait to get positive results? please reply, im getting depressed here.

Reply:Yea i went through bad breakouts(way worse than before tazorac) and a bright red face for like 2 months. Then after i got used to it and it didnt irritate me anymore it slowly, and i mean very slowly got better. Im also on antibiotics so that has something to do with it but now after 7 months im pretty clear of pimples. It was a big time pain in the butt to have people ask how i got sunburned in winter but it was worth it.

Reply:My son took Differin for 10 months & his face got worse & worse. My understanding is that Tazorac is more potent than Differin. My son has been on taz for 5 weeks today (.1% cream, working up to twice/day). It seems to be very very slowly helping. He had a horrible breakout for 4 weeks. Now he is still red. 5 days ago he started putting cleocin on over his taz (twice a day) & that stopped the pustules that he had been waking up with each morning. He also takes minocin 100mg. 2 times a day.

Reply:is Doxycycline stronger or weaker than minocycline? or is it a different thing altogether?

Reply:`Taz is working great for me…I think it's starting to really kick in though…I had a slight break out(nothing really bad just a few bumps close to my temple and my jawline) a few weeks ago but everything is clearing up and the bumps have flatten or is flattening out. Unlike before my face is barely oily and the cool thing is alot of the small acne scars and pits i had are healing and smoothing out….This is actually my 7th week on Taz…I'm also taking Doxycycline twice a day….

Reply:i'm using the .1% gel, and im on minocycline

Reply:Hi,

I was using Taz, made my face look very irritated as well, so I began using Differin, which is much better for me, and yes, it took about 8 weeks to really start working.

Reply:are u using the gel or cream? and whats the concentration?

Reply:I used it for about 2 months and all it did was irritate my skin. I would go to work and people would ask where I went during the middle of winter to get sunburned so badly. So, in my experience, tazorac didn't work well.
