If someone can tell me I would much appreciate it. A few months ago I broke up with acne on my shoulders and upper back. Since that time the acne has healed and the skin is smooth, but where once the acne is now red spots. Theses areas are painful I love to go to the lake and everything but there is noway I take my shirt off in public now. any info would be great.
Reply:I am very fair skinned, and I only have acne (occasionally) when nearing my period. I get red marks that are quite noticeable, and I have found that Neutrogena's Healthy Skin and Vitamin E oil fade them in a week or about 14 days. I don't use the Healthy Skin too often as it burns; however, I use the Vitamin E oil on the area–and I massage it in several times a day–makeup does well as it clings to the area–and does not flake too much.
This has helped me immensely. Perhaps it will help one of you. You can find small bottles of vitamin E oil in department stores (beauty aisle), or you could even use the capsules–but they tend to leave waste.
Good luck–
Even though I only break out occasionally–I just turned twenty-five—and have had a face full of pimples–and great red marks to go along with it. I have learned to appreciate the times when my skin is nice or only has one blemish.
Reply:has anyone tried natures cure? i have seen it in the stores here and there and was courious as if this would help to get rid of red spots..
Reply:Red spots … all too familiar with 'em.
Especially when it's a really bad break out on your face and they leave the scars and it's….bad.
Since I'm extremely fair they show up on my skin easier than others…as with any fair person. I actually still have some red spots/scars that are about 2 years old.
For anyone with these nastly little dots on their face I highly suggest a product that Clinique puts out. It's in their whole acne solutions series. It's called Night Treatment Gel. It fades the appearance of recient breakouts and it works too! WOW…imagine that! lol. Give it a try!
Reply:BP and a good concealer in the meantime.
Reply:anyone else with any good ideas to rid ourselves of these red spots?
Reply:WOW AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM!!! LOL I get those spots too usually when I break out they kinda stain my face and it takes forever to go away and this happens every month ladies ya know what i'm talking about !!I hate it cuz I usually break out in the around the mouth and chin area and now I have 2 spots one on each side of my mouth so I look like a puppet with dots on each side of my mouth

Reply:what exactly is a facial brush???
Reply:Have any of you guys tried vaseline? A while back, someone on here recommended scrubbing the affected areas with a facial brush and applying vaseline to the redmarks several times a day.
Reply:guy:
Oxy is a brand name, the main ingredient is benzoyl peroxide. You can get it OTC at any drugstore.
Reply:Try a mud mask. It's great for fading red marks and removing clogged pores and blackheads.
Reply:to SherLady..Where can you buy Oxy/Benzoyl Peroxide? Is that a brand or an ingredient?
Reply:In my case there was no comparison. BP worked far better and faster.
Reply:guy,
Would you say that benzoyl peroxide works better at bleaching/fading brown spots than hydroquinoine products?
Thanks!
Reply:Oxy/Benzoyl Peroxide. It will even bleach your hair if you get some on it. This is serious stuff for fading those red spots and I wouldn't give it up for anything!
Reply:Hot water directly against your skin is not good because it can lead to skin dryness and even broken capillaries (which are only removable with a derm's laser!)
Your red marks might only be less noticeable because your entire face might get flushed from the steam or high temperatures. It is only temporary and will not make your red marks diminish in the long run.
Reply:Hey everyone…one other thing i have noticed about these red marks is after a nice hot shower they are not as noticeable..my question is…is taking a hot shower such a good idea? i dont want these things to last longer then they should because i keep taking hot showers. thanks again all
Reply:The Alpha Hydrox in the red box is indeed a winner against red marks and acne in general. I use the one called the oil free gel, 10% solution. The only place I can find now is either on Drugstore.com, or from the manufacturers website. (Cheaper at drugstore.com) About US$9 but it lasts me about 6-8 weeks with heavy twice a day use. Start out gradually with it, once every other day, a very light application so that your skin can get used to it. After you have used it for a long time, you can use it often. At first it might tingle a little, and make your skin slightly red. Shouldn't be worse than that though. I like this product better than any other alpha hydrox product since all others have made my skin turn red and nasty. This one has some b5 and green tea extract and other things that seem to help it work and also keep it from irritating my skin. I may have acne, but my skin is awfully fussy. You might find in the first 2 weeks that you get a few pimples when using this product for the first time, it seems to clear out whatever is lurking below the surface before rewarding you with lasting results. The red marks might disappear in maybe 3 weeks, or at least be tolerably improved. Good luck!
Reply:Um, I guess you didn't understand my post.
Reply:thanks for all the suggestions everyone. but but from everything i have read on here it sounds like the best way to really heal these marks is to wait them out….that sucks..
Reply:The best thing for red marks is a product containing Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), which will help to exfoliate your surface skin cells at a faster rate. Alpha Hydrox (in red boxes) can be found in drugstores, and are among the best AHA products on the market! They can be used either on the face or body!
Reply:im not to sure about the tape thing but hey you never know. has anyone ever tried that stuff called proactive? i have seen there info commercial on t.v. a million times. if you have do you know if it would help fade these spots? thanks again all….

Reply:Sorry I didn't realize you said your back. The above post was meant for the face although I suppose you can try it on your back…
Reply:As weird as this may sound, I sometimes use scotch tape. I apply it on the skin then tear it off several times. It also exfoliates and makes the skin look rosey pink and therefore the red marks are way less noticable because they're blended into the skin. I do this 3 times a week. Although, I am not completely clear of them yet, I'm still searching for something I can smear on over night. But this procedure has helped quite a bit, I thought I'd post that! Good luck!
Reply:hey everyone thanks for the replies….i to have used that vita k stuff and it helped a bit but still didnt get rid of them. has anyone else tried anything else that may help? i really hate to not be able to go to the lake, jacuzzi, pool whatever with these damn spots!!! they suck and are embarissing…
Reply:I also like Vita K. One of the best products I've ever used to fade red marks/scars. You can buy it from most drug stores, ie. Longs, Walgreens, etc.
Reply:Where can you get Vita K?
Reply:My derm gave me an antibiotic called Plexion and it helps to clear my face as well as fade red spots.
Reply:I've had one of these marks on my face for over a year, and though it has become a brown colour, it's not the least bit faded yet.
Reply:have you guys tried Vita K for Blotchy Skin? I've started to use it 2x a day since March 25th, and so far it has faded the red marks well… I'd say atleast 70% improvement so far. I've recommended this to my relatives who also suffer from acne/red marks. I wonder if anyone else has used this and seen much improvement?
Reply:I have the same problem, my back is almost clear but i have those red marks. I notice that the sun makes them less noticable but doesn't make them go away. Im just trying to be patient and I'll just wear my hair down till they go away.
Reply:god i hate to wait even a week longer for these spots to go away. does anyone know of any type of cream or pills that or what ever that could help speed up the healing process? thanks again everyone.
Reply:Same issue with me except on my FACE!
I was told these spots take more than 6 months.
Be patient.
